Any Campers Here?

We had a pop-up camper for the first 20 years of our marriage and keep debating about whether or not to get another one (the prices are so high now!).
Our favorite spots were ocean view campsites at Hermit Island, Maine, Maidstone Lake, NH and Fort Wilderness in Disney.
Hope you get out there soon!

Tent campers here! We have a specific state park we like to go to that's about 90 minutes away, but honestly, it's about to dump a foot of snow on my house, so I'm not really thinking about camping right now.

Love to go camping. My go-to destinations are Sequoia and Yosemite. I can actually tent camp in Sequoia, and kind of camp at Yosemite in the valley. We were going to go this year, but, well, you know. I am hoping we can go in 2021

Lots of great backpacking in those parks. I feel better about bears in the backcountry.

We have a small trailer and love to camp in the RMNP here in CO. We have a nice family trip to Yellowstone scheduled for July, which is a great place to camp! Living in CO gives us lots of options, all within a days drive.

We are looking at buying a larger trailer but WOW have prices increased due to the "COVID demand". One trailer went from $25k to $32-34K in the last year.

I expect the used trailer market to have a lot of volume over the next couple of years as folks learn about maintaining their trailers the hard way.

I agree completely. I think once the country opens up and people can take their "normal" vacations the appeal will wear off and we'll see some pretty decent deals on used and even new inventory as dealers try to move potential overstock. My big concern with buying used, especially living in a cold climate, is were they were winterized correctly. That scares me.

We're in Tennessee, and we are still camping, just winter tent camped with my scouts two weekends ago. No real recommendations here as I'm in west TN (Memphis area) and the camping is only ok. I have been pleasantly surprised with camping at Big Hill Pond and Chickasaw State Parks. BHP has no electrical hook ups and only accommodates smaller trailers. Tent pads are on crushed gravel, so bring a ground tarp.

I've camped throughout northern California and loved it. Miss it. There's a plethora of great state county, and national parks to choose form in a variety of geographic areas. If venturing to the Idaho panhandle there's Farragut State Park. Love it! But I think most camping is closed in the winter due to snow. Closer to Boise is McCall Idaho, and they have some decent camping as well.

This is part of the reason I am willing to pay a premium for new. I don't want to inherit problems. The other reason is that prices are inflated in the used market right now and there is no way I'm going to buy a used trailer when I can buy new for $2-$3k more. I think you're right there may be some deals in the coming years due to overstock and buyer's remorse.

Both of the campers my parents bought were used in the 80s. No big problems other than replacing the AC units. Our biggest camper back then cost $5k used with a bunk room and a master. That's about $10k in today's money. I can't get anything as good for that price now.

You just have to look and be patient. Used , is cheaper, usally. And will mostly have the dealer defects fixed allready. Now with the covid prices are higher. There is demand and not a lot of used or new campers out there. Keep looking, but dont get attached. Look it over carefully so you dont overpay. And make sure the PO walks you through everything. Same goes for new. You will be surprised what dosen't work right off the bat.

We have a 35 foot fifth wheel, I guess now days they call that glamping. I hate that term. We live in Georgia so the camping is pretty much year round. We just got back from a work trip for hubby to Bradenton, FL and Albany Ga. last week. The RV really came in handy this year since he had a large client with offices in Al, Tn, SC, GA and Fl that were upgrading all their systems that he had to visit. I only work part time so it was nice for me to get out of the house yet still be social distancing. The dog and I stayed at the campground while he went to the office every day, we took lots of long walks. We bought brand new two years ago and have loved it.
Here we are in a great KOA in Brandenton called Hunsader Farms. 544288

Back when I was a teenager in New Mexico our family tent camped all the time. One year we took an epic trip from Albuquerque west and then up the coast of Cal and back through Nevada. Took a month and half. Back then you could camp anywhere so we often camped on the beach. Rio Grande Gorge in NM in the 70s 544290

I grew up camping at Hermit Island! two weeks every summer for over 30 years. Just visited there again in October and think we are actually going to go for a week next summer. Place never changes which is what makes it so special.
