Any BWV points available to NEW members?

Friends of ours want to buy in. I thought I had heard of people who haven't owned DVC buying NEW contracts through Disney for BWV? Am I remembering wrong? Can you only get SSR or would a little pushing possibly get you BWV?

Any info would help- they are going to call DVC tomorrow to inquire.

You can buy them if they're available. There is also a minimum amount that you'd have to purchase for the initial contract.

You can definitely buy-in at sold out resorts, I did it last month for BCV. There is a 150 point minimum for new members just like there is with SSR.

The current price for the sold-out resorts is $92/point. Recently Disney was offering a $5/pt discount in effect for VB and HHI but I don't know if that is still available. Some people have reported that the price will be going up on April 1st to $95/pt but I don't know if there has been any official announcement about that yet.

By the way, when your friends call they should mention that you referred them. You will earn a referral bonus from Disney unless you live in a state that doesn't allow it.

Is it true about what I read on another post that Disney sold out BWV again. The OP said they tried to buy in and there were no points available....more than likely I would assume they were looking for a certain UY.

Or, they can check out resale. If they need more points (@ BWV or anywhere else), they can then & add on to their UY thru DVC direct (25 min. cash, 50 finance) if available.

We bough BWV from Disney last June. Call if they don't have them now go on the wait list.

I just got a call back from my guide today. I'm a newbie looking to buy in, and I had asked to go on the wait list for BWV. I was told I don't need to go on the wait list, they have it avaialble now, for $92. So now I'm trying to decide between buying at $92 (150 pts) or looking to see if I can buy a resale contract (100 pts). Still thinking...

The term "sold out resort" is a misnomer. Yes, SSR is the "resort of choice" for DVC guides to sell at this point simply because it is the resort under construction, and it is the one DVC wants to SELL. On the other hand, DVC has inventory of points with the other "sold out" resorts from time to time especially when DVC exercises ROFR. A couple of weeks ago, DVC had 900 points available for VWL in the Oct/Dec UY, but those points are probably gone now, but others will come available. BCV inventory is especially tight as it is very popular and small, while OKW tends to have a lot more inventory cause it is larger and older. Just because BCV is popular does not make it the best resort...each resort has it's own "character" apart from the others...some people like Starbucks..some like Dunkin Donuts... and some people just like tea !!!

Well said abner! It's all a matter of taste. There is always a way to get points at any resort, you just have to do the leg work.

My son just purchased BWV ( the Fed EX pkg) just came this week and he already has reservations for Aug at BWV. He has Dec use year. So the sold out resorts can still be purchased.
