We just had our add on come through for BW through DVC. In fact, we just mailed the finally paperwork in yesterday.
I am confused. Our guide told us that when you add on through Disney, you have no choice of your user year. It is always the same as your orginal purchase.
That is slightly incorrect. DVC will not sell you another use year if your add-on is below 150 points. If you are adding on at least 150 points (which means a new contract) DVC will allow you to pick another use year, but it is looked down upon. When I originally called my guide about a BWV add-on. I had asked for a few different use years, since it would be 150 points. She told me that it is allowed, but management at DVC looks down upon guides selling a different use year, but with at least 150 points it can be done if the member really pushes for it. To end the story, we got our Feb use year BWV add-on less than a week after the new waitlist policy. One of the questions I had my DH ask the guide during that initial phone call was if there was anyway we could request a Feb user year like we have with our SSR contract. Randy, our guide said you did not have an opiton. DVC would not sell you multiple user years.

Just wondering what the price is now days for a resale at the BWV from the DVC? We just finished buying andother 100 points resale with our same use year of October from The Timeshare Store. We also bought 150 October points two years ago from the same company. The 150 points were $68 a point and the 100 points last month were $70 a point. Are the BWV points from the DVC more then this, and I am assuming that they are? And if so why don't you just buy them from one of these resale companys? With both contracts I would just check the sites from time to time and when a resale came up that I wanted and it was the correct use year for me,I would put in and offer.
Resales are now going for a minimum of $73 per point, and usually more to get past ROFR. Depending on the contract, buying through DVC might not be much more. We had an offer in on a BWV contract for $72, and including closing fees came out to be $75. We were also on the waitlist for BWV and that came through while we were still in the recision period of the resale. It was $89 per point, but came with a full supply of 2004 points, the resale didn't have any until 2005. So, with my being able to rent those points, my total cost came down to $79 per point. That $4 per point difference wasn't a big deal to me, since it enabled me to get the same use year as my other points, as the resale wasn't. It was worth it to me. and I was also able to secure my ressies for BWV immediately.Originally posted by DMDSTPRGIL
