My best friend and I are planning a girls shoping get-away Dec 1 & 2. I'm very familiar with the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall and Target shopping area. Just wondering what else we should cover. I've read about another outlet mall in Waterloo, NY which is close to Rochester...anyone been there? Also, there appear to be two malls in Buffalo area...Galleria and Boulevard Mall...any experience with either? I'm thinking we'll stay in the Amherst area, but am open to other ideas....we want to feel safe and ideally would be near some restaurants etc. Thanks for your expertise!

Sounds like fun! We usually do this too, but haven't made a date yet. We better get on it, times a wasting! ;) A a matter of fact we are thinking of hitting Toronto for our annual shopping trip. Any tips you could give us? :)

The outlet in Waterloo has the same stores as the one in Niagara Falls and it's a 2 &1/2 hour drive from there. The Galleria mall in Buffalo is great but I've never heard of the other one. I'd stick to that area. There are more than enough stores to do major damage to your credit card!

Have fun!

p.s. there are some great Priceline hotels in that area. P.M. me and I can give you some great advice on how to bid that area.

Lucky4me - you can't go wrong shopping in Canada right now with the exchange! What I find interesting is that in a lot of cases, the prices you see on a product are the same in both US and Canada, but you get such a deal with exchange rate in your favour. Food prices are a real good deal here...go to some nice restaurants for a great deal! Most "tourists" would head downtown to the Eaton's Center area, which is good, but I like to shop more in the suburbs. I'm more familiar with the North East area of TO, and the Scarborough Town Center has a ton of stores, including a Walmart, Bay and Sears. Fairview Mall is pretty good as well. If you can, go during the week....weekend shopping right now until x-mas is very busy. Let me know if you have more specific questions.
PS. The Sunday that we're going is the last day of your Thanksgiving weekend...will it be crazy, or will stores be out of stock, are the sales really good?

Galleria Mall is big, has pretty much any store you want to go to. I've damaged my credit card there more times than I care to admit! ;) Staying in Amherst is a good idea, or you could stay right in Cheektowaga near the mall. There's a Four Seasons Sheraton pretty much right in the mall parking lot. Very nice hotel, great indoor pool. Have fun! :D

I think there's a Hampton Inn right across the street from the Walden Galleria. There's also a Target right near there too. I've shopped the Galleria and Boulevard Mall - both are good. McKinley Mall is also not far from the Galleria. Happy shopping!
