I don't think Roman gave Bill Nikki, I think he gave him money to help with Barb's medical bills. I wonder if Barb knew Bill was brought up that way when she married him.... Was Barb brought up that way??

All my church friends are appropriately horrified that I love this show (we're LDS), but I just can't help myself. It's too good. I'm thrilled to see a thread discussing it here because I sure the heck can't talk about it with them.

I am a little tired of Bill's rear and all the gratuitous sex scenes, I'm sorry but as a mom of four small kids I'm sure my "night" could come and go about three times before I even cared about it. I have, on occasion, joked to my DH that if the church ever reinstated polygamy (NEVER GONNA HAPPEN) that if he could just find a second wife who loved to cook and clean that he had my blessing. Of course, now that I've seen the show I realize that would never work for us, but I still can't stop watching. It's like a train wreck. I do think the Roman was poisoning Bill's dad, but Harry Dean Stanton is so good and creepy in that role that I hope the character sticks around for awhile. As far as the wives go, I am probably the most like Barb (and thus not as interested in her scenes), I find Nikki the most intriguing, and Margene just a little annoying. I hope this thread sticks around-I'm off to read the backstories on the characters.

Edited to add: I can't believe I forgot to mention that Bill's mother Lois is by far my favorite character on the show-even if she is guilty of the poisoning. (Or maybe that should read "especially if." )

I also got a weird feeling when they showed Nikki on the bed with Roman ....something not right there

I thought it was so funny when Barb went across the street to the neighbors house and brought them a cake and made it a point to explain all the other neighbors..

I like the story line with the oldest daughter having a job in the real world and the girl who wanted to be her friend...

I felt so sorry for that little fella on his birthday...I wanted to run and give him a TOY!!

Oh dear--I'm in San Antonio for Spring Break and just watched an episode and now I'm hooked--but we don't get HBO back home! What will I do?! Will someone please give a recap on each new show so I can keep up til I can figure out how to convince DH we really need HBO!

I cant stand Nikki , she gives me the creeps and she is such a greedy woman!
Roman scares the Crap out of me. he is a gross sick old man. And I think him and his daughter have some hidden secrets... Also his new young little wife stole that i-pod from sarah... Thats not cool. You know sarah didnt give that to her!
I like margene she is young and cute and I like barb too
But ben and margene are around the same age and I think something might happen between those two....

I kind of don't mind Bill Paxton's butt- I think he is a hottie! It was a bit much to see other parts of "parts" on the first episode but I really like the show. Next week is when we start to see the backlash from Nikki's spending. Poor little guy- who wants shoes for a b-day present at his age?

Roman creeps me out though and so does his very young wife- eeeeww!!!

I think Barb is sort of the fixer, the way Nikki always calls her bosslady. Her going across the street with the cake was prompted after Bill met the neighbor and when he got to work he called Barb and said something to her. She told him she would "take care of it". I think that was what prompted the visit to the neighbor. Also an interesting note, the girl who plays Rhonda, the profits latest wife is Davaliegh Chase who voice the role of Lilo in the original Lilo and Stitch movie. Margene was in Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts and was much heavier in that role. She was the celloist that fell for the sort of nerdy guy. She looks a lot different but that smile is the same.

Can't believe no one has commented about last night's show! When Bill told his friend "We are going after Roman" I cheered!!! Shooting him is too easy. I'm dying to know what sadistic little game he'll play to take him down. This should be fun

I was when Nicki figured out she was 58K in debt. How the heck does 58k of credit card debt rack up without your Dh knowing? She doesn't have an outside job, I doubt she ever did. She probably would have no credit record so the cards had to be in Bill's name. That's just shocking to me.

What was really sad about Nikki was after she met with Roman and he gave her $3,000 ? (half of the one credit card balance) she takes off and goes shopping instead of using the money to pay down some bills. I see the bills and Roman paying them as another hook Roman will use to keep Bill paying him. It was interesting also that right after Bill says he's going after Roman that the next scene shows him with the rifle he bought for his son. It seemed they were foreshadowing how Bill planned to deal with Roman. Another character note, the girl who works with Sarah the oldest daughter is Tina Majorino, who as a child actor was in Corrina, Corrina and Waterworld with Jeanne Tripplehorn who plays Barb.

The whole wolf thing was kind of wierd to like it represents Roman and how the wolf is always at the door for Bill. I missed seeing Bruce Dern this week and his whole pissed off husband routine.

So THAT's what Roman meant by, "glad I could help.? He gave them Nikki? Gawd, he's a creep!!! The possibilities are endless in this show. I don't believe there are upscale polygamists-does anyone else? Totally improbable that someone like Bill could pull it off. Thank goodness we didn't have to see any more of Bill's bottom or impromptu 'relations' with his wives. I was getting tired of that. I want more info on the "families." I like Nikki's mother, she says "you too Barb, just give her a good whack, it's all she'll listen to sometimes."

According to someone I work with there is a family down the street from her that seems pretty upscale (not to the point of having three separate houses but fairly normal accomadations).
