Any benefit to booking thru TA ??

Hi!! I have booked an early December cruise (yes, the Mega - mouse meet one) directly thru DCL......I e-mailed several TAs - including the ones recommended by Mousesavers and Allears for quotes from them , and amazingly - their price quotes were the same as what I paid directly with DCL - even though they advertised a cheaper rate on their websites for the same cruise (which is why I had e-mailed them in the first place).

Am I missing something? Is there any benefit to booking thru a TA other than price?

This is my first Disney Cruise - but have made MANY trips to WDW - and have always been a self-planner (own air, rental cars, hotels, PS ). What do you think? Should I transfer my ressie to a TA???? Thanks for your insight! Jill

A good TA will also watch for the rate to drop and rebook for you at the lower rate. We use Dreams Unlimited, and one of the big reasons is because of that service. Not all agencies will do that, tho', so choose carefully.

I always use a TA. She got me air fare from the West Coast to Orlando for $175 per person lower than DCL. Got the hotel for less than DCL wanted also.
In another case, I did a LOT of leg work on the Internet on a odd trip I was taking. I was going from Sacramento to Houston, staying 5 days, then flying to Savannah for 4 days, then Savannah back to Sacramento.
She picked up from there and got American Airlines to consider it one round trip, saved me about $200 a ticket that way.

TA's often know things before you do, like special deals, or can rates that supposedly have passed. For our August cruise, he got us the last cat 11 stateroom at the early booking price about 5 days after the offer had passed. I'm not sure if DCL would have done the same.

I like to pick on ours (MouseEarVacations) for advice and tips too. Some TA's also give little welcome gifts, if that's of interest to you.

Basically, they are another resource to you if you use one. We may be lucky though; ours never lacks in communication promptness. By the time we've taken a second breath after we send an email he seems to have responded. It seems some do not have as good experiences.
