I am a little nervous about this!
Wanted to share that as we(humans) continue to build in areas where nature has ruled, we will continue to be at greater risk!!!
Wanted to share our creature story from our vacation in the White Mountains in New Hampshire (Loon Mountain area)
We stayed in a Townhouse and the day we arrived a fellow vacationer had met our car in the parking lot to give us a "heads up" that a "Mother Bear" - thats right I said "BEAR" was in the Townhouse complex with her "2" cubs.
Our initial thought - "HOW COOL" until we realized that she was in total charge!!!!
Day 3 was our first encounter! Walking to the river I saw a man and 3 kids following "The Bear" in the woods - "SO STUPID" unfortunately I was stuck where I was until she moved very far away! I had my 2 kids 5 & 3 with me, hubby was on his way right behind me and potentially in her path so I wanted to make sure I made all attempts to catch him!
Next, on the same day my husband was walking up from the river to our Townhouse - there is a path about 100 yds. and at the end is our "parking lot"! Well, there she was in the parking lot up a tree with the babies! Fortunately friends had met us at the river and had their car. After he rushed back to us and we decided it was to close to be an open target on the riverside we all piled into their car and drove back up to the house.
They stayed in that tree for 4 hours. We were hostages! We couldn't get to our cars because they were right near them, our friends car was to small for all of us to go out for the day! We called Police and they told us some idiots had been feeding her and that is why she hadn't moved on! Also, we were told that the local Dunkin' Donuts had forgotten to close their trash canister one night - they were fined
It was exciting but definitely scary! Not sure how I will respond to a "GATOR" aren't they fast?
Just thought I would share!
