Any advice on how to avoid getting sick in Disney?

3 of my 4 got the flu the last time. DD7(at the time) had it while at AK and 1900 PF and DD1(at time) got it at Epcot. DD9 as we pulled into our hometown...started! I have no advice for you what-so-ever! Sorry!
 
Probiotics! It is the same stuff that is in yogurt, and you can carry it in pill form. Probiotics help the immune system as well as digestive tract. I read an article recently talking about travelers becoming ill with suggestions on how to avoid illness. It mentioned probiotics. It also mentioned how many Europeans don't travel without it.

There are chewables for kids. Some forms have to be refridgerated, and some don't. With the refridgerated kind, I took an unopened bottle to WDW and stored it in the fridge in our room. I just threw it away when we left.

I also have a powder form that I mix into my 2 yo's milk.

We were so sick in the 2005-06 fall through spring. Last fall, we started taking this stuff, and we have been so much better. I realized that all things weren't equal, but I think that it has helped.

Ugh! If you can figure out how not to get sick I would love to hear it. Every single time we go to WDW we get sick. We are not germaphobes for the most part so our kids have a pretty good immunity- but- they must have super germs there. Last trip I came home and ended up with pneumonia. On another trip we went to Centra Care about 5 times for the kids and had to postphone our trip home because they were too sick to fly. I will add that our kids are healthy eaters and we are not a commando family. We make sure they get plenty of rest and we wash hands religiously. I love going to WDW but I have to be honest when I say that I get tired just thinking about what we are going to catch and bring home. On our first trip the kids got sick the night before we left. When I tell you that illness morphed into 3 months of illness. They were sick from the first week of October until the week before Christmas. It was horrific. They never fully recovered from the mystery WDW illness and caught everything else on the planet. :guilty:
 
REST! Most people who go to disney do alot more physical activity than thier bodies are used to. Start walking program a few weeks before your trip. Get your body used to spending alot of time outdoors in the hot sun. Take a rest break during the day to keep your energy levels up. Eat healthy meals while you are in the parks. Drink lots and lots of water all day every day. If you let your body get tired and worn out you will be much more suseptable to a bacteria or virus. if you want to stay healthy follow the habits of healthy people!
