For making some home movies from WDW this year is there anything I should keep in mind while taking videos? Or any pieces of equipment that would be helpful for taking videos?

Have a look at my reply to your previous post.
I am assuming that you are using a camcorder, rather than a compact camera with video facility.
A tripod can be useful when using the zoom lens at the higher magnification to reduce camera shake.
I always fit a skylight / UK filter to the front of the lens for protection
Make sure your battery is put on charge at the end of each evening. I have had that sinking feeling on your way out at the start of a new day.....with a dead battery :scared1:. Try and get into some of the video shots yourself, otherwise it looks as if you were left at home! :rotfl:

I am going to add to the very practical list above: make sure you have your recording media (in my case it was a SD card) IN the camcorder or in your bag when you leave for the park ...... just saying. :headache:

As well as an HD camcorder I have a camera with HD video and I have a gorilla pod (if you don't know what that is its a small tripod with shapable and bendable legs to stand on any surface). Also I am thinking of buying a monopod for things like firework shows, parades, etc. Would that be a good idea?

PS: Not sure if DF is willing to carry a monopod in his backpack:laughing:

A monopod is good for smooth panning and also very useful especially when filming for any length of time. I remember the first time of filming Wishes! from Main St. and at the end, my arms had gone numb :scared1:
A Gorilla pod is a great piece of kit, but I found that it can become a bit unstable depending on what size / type of camera is fitted. :thumbsup2

I have the gorilla pod for compact camera's but although my camera is compact its quite thick, so since its my Birthday in not too long:banana: I think I might ask for The bigger one for Bridge camera's :thumbsup2
