Any advice for taking first trip?

Hey all! I'll be heading on my first DVC trip in about 8 days. Anyone have any advice they can give before I go? I'll be staying at OKW in a 2 bedroom vacation home.
Do they still take room request faxes?

Congrats on your 1st trip home!

Being that your in a 2-bdrm, I'd stop off at a Winn Dixie or similar store on the way to the resort. Pick up nessessaties..milk,snacks,soda,bread,cold cuts
and any alcohol(if you drink)...it'll be MUCH cheaper than Goodings!

We had a 2-bdrm last April at SSR and did the same. If your renting a car
Winn Dixie is right up the road from OKW! Takes about 15 mins. driving.
Storing up on food saves alot on expenses! With the extra $$ we went out
to the "better" restaurants over at DTD (down town dis).

One more thing...you'll have your own wash/dryer...get some soap!
My wife did a couple of loads while we were there...what a blessing!
Good luck...we're heading down in 7 weeks!

No faxes, but you can make some general requests at the time you make the reservation. We used to request a specific area, but now we just take our chances, and we haven't hit a bad one yet. Once we ended up on the first floor under a GV, and that was a bit noisy, but that is the worst I can say.

By the way, it looks like you will be there on the 6th. Maybe you can join us for our DIS/DVC meet at VWL. Check out THIS THREAD for information on the gathering. Hope to see you there! We are arriving at OKW Saturday afternoon and will also be in a 2 bedroom through the 10th.

best advice I can give you is to take me along and I'll show you the ropes

anyway have fun and don't forget to do SOARING IN THE LAND AT ePCOT.

Two other suggestions -- one minor, the other I think is important.

The minor one is, in addition to food, coffee, and laundry detergent, buy some coffee filters!

The more important tip is to plan some OKW time into your schedule. Enjoy the pool, boat rentals, bikes, walking around the resort, community hall, etc, etc. We did NOT do that on our recent trip, and the first criteria for our May trip was to plan two OKW days into the trip.
