We are looking at going to Orlando for a week when DH has training down there since his accomodations will be paid for by the Army BUT the kicker is that we can't rent an offsite home or condo - it HAS to be a "real" hotel with a receipt for him to submit for reimbursement.

Are there any hotels out there that would have the equivalent of a 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom DVC type room off-property with a full kitchen in the $200 a nite range?

I can't imagine the 5 of us in a standard hotel room for 7 days. We would need the space so the kids don't drive each other crazy!

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

The Marriot Grande Vista has a two bedroom listed at 263$ per night, you might get a discount with AAA or a special they have on the board. Also, Sheraton Vistana has great deals for disboarders for 2 bdrms and both Sheraton and Marriott are real hotels. Good Luck! Both also get lots of great reviews. Ask for newly refurbished rooms!;)

When are you going? Sheraton Vistana Villages has 2 bedroom that in my opinion are nicer than DVC and you can usually get for $200 oftentimes for $100 or so. Sheraton Vistana Villages units are all new in the last 6 years or so Sheraton Vistana Resort has many older units

Thanks I will check those!

We are looking at going Jan 31-Feb 10.

Hawthorne Suites, Homewood Suites, Amerisuites, Staybridge Suites all have 2 bedroom suites. I know the that Hawthorne Suites has government rates and AAA rates.

The Caribe Royal is a very nice hotel. When I stayed there in 2000 they had a seperate room with a sofa pull out in the living area and then beds in the other room. Also some other women that we were with rented a villa type 3b twords the back of the property. I know its gated cause we drove back there and had to check in. Also it was a pretty nice place as pool/rec goes nice pool slide etc. Hope you have a good trip.

I thought that the Army required conference attendees to stay at Shades of Green as long as rooms were available?

As an FYI, they don't have full kitchens, but they do have very large family suites that sleep 6-8. THey are slightly more than $200 a night, but the location can't be beat.

He isn't going to a conference on property but some specialized training for his branch - they have offices somewhere up near UCF (yes I know it's a hike for him if we stay near LBV but he doesn't mind) and we wanted to tag along since his airfare and accomodations would be paid for due to the training.

I'll check into SOG. I didn't realize they had suites! I haven't stayed there since it was the Golf Resort. The kids would LOVE the location but the food costs if we can't cook a few meals in 10 days would kill us.

how about disney vacation club - okw, ss, bcv, bwv, akv, vwl?

there is also the Hilton Grand Vacation Club.

these were better than Disney

marriott is nice.

everyone taste is different I prefer Disney to Sheraton. but definitely like hilton better than Disney.

FYI, if you end up at SoG, tell him to the the Greenway (SR 417) from WDW to the UCF area--avoid I-4 at all costs. The Greenway might look longer on paper, but in real life taking traffic and congestion into consideration, it will probably save him 30 minutes or more each way.

Have you looked at Lake Buena Vista Resort & Spa? We paid a little over $100/night for a 2 bedroom suite with pull-out sofa bed.

They are a condo facility, but rent out the condos like a hotel, and you don't have to listen to the sales spiel.

We absolutely loved this place!! We were at Disney within minutes!

Thanks, everyone. I'll check out the places mentioned.

Anne - thanks for the tip on the Greenway. Wish it had been around when I lived at the dorms at UCF and worked at Disney many moons ago. Back then it was I-4 to the East West (which ended at Colonial Drive) then 50 to Alafaya. Quite the hike!

Ugh. I think I would have either found a new school or a new job. Or just committed Hari Kari in the middle of the parking lot aka I-4 one day. :rotfl:

One plus for the Staybridge Suites is that they have a nice hot breakfast every morning as well as a light meal during part of the week (I haven't stayed at the one in LBV or on International Drive, but the others I have stayed at have been this way).

Also, if you aren't a Priority Club member, be sure to sign up (it's free) and put your club number on the reservation.

Also, check www.hotelkingdom.com for Cypress Pointe Grande Villas (lots of activities for the kids). They have 2 and 3 BR condos.
