Hi everyone!
I'm new to these boards and had a question for those familiar with the Atlanta airport. We traveled to Disney last year on a non-stop flight through Jet Blue. It was pure magic but we weren't so lucky this time. We got saddled with a layover of about 1 hour in Atlanta. I didn't realize Atlanta was the biggest airport in the United States until after I booked. We are traveling from Portland, Maine so we will quite possibly be going from the smallest airport to the biggest
My questions are as follows:
1. Is 59 minutes enough time to switch planes even if our seats are pretty far back in our plane (MD-88) and our gate is far away?
2. What are the odds of our arrival gate and departure gate being in the same concourse? Our airline is Delta if that makes any difference.
3. Will FA's do anything to help expedite our journey if our flight is running late? Will they allow folks with short layovers off the plane first? That seems like one really efficient way to help people but they may not do it that way.
4. How likely is a delay for an early morning flight going from Northern United States to Southern? Generally speaking, of course.
5. Lastly, what happens if we do indeed miss our connecting flight? My understanding is that agents will get us on another flight if the delay was their fault. I've already searched out my options. We fly out on a Saturday so many Florida flights at this point are nearly booked for the entire day. This is two months prior to our trip. What then?
I appreciate the help so much!!!
