ANTM - Cycle 11

I think the tranny is going to be the "Heather-Asperger's" person this year, meaning she'll go far but won't win. I think Tyra wants an Asian winner to complete her collection, but we'll see if Sheena can bring it.

[Then again, I thought Anya was WAY better than Whitney last cycle, yet the plussie winner had to be crowned, so maybe Sheena won't have to outshine all the others in order to take it]

ITA!!!:thumbsup2

I've been hoping for an Asian girl for so many cycles. I guess that as a general rule, Asians are still a bit shorter than the general population, so probably not as many girls in the 5'8"+ category.

I think Nikeyshia looks like Saleisha (must be the hair)

I thought that too!:thumbsup2

I was happy with the first girl voted off.

It's only the first episode and I already can't stand Clark! She is just mean!:sad2:

My husband can't figure out why I watch this show! It's just my guilty pleasure!

I have an issue with them putting Isis through. I don't care that she/he is transgendered and think she would be an excellent runway/European model, but one of the HUGE prizes for this competion is a COVERGIRL CONTRACT. COVERGIRL is a very "middle America" kind of company and I truly don't ever see them using a transgendered model as their spokesperson.

I really feel bad for Isis unless she realizes that there is no way she will win this thing and is just in it for the exposure. I don't like that the producers are messing with this young person just to garner ratings. It's kind of icky.

I was thrilled that My Sharona aka The Beyotch got voted off first. Good riddance to bad rubbish. And that Clark -- I hope they give her a real makeover such as dye her hair dark, cut it super short and make it spikey. She and too many of these girls have spent way too much time as Queen Bee of their podunkville town and need to be taken down a notch.

Yeah, we were wondering how the Cover Girl commercial would turn out. I don't now that it's all that wrong to give Isis the exposure...he/she may get some beneifical exposure out of it (and it's got to be better than the shelter.) But I do wonder why they would pick a person who they knew had no chance of winning...they would't choose someone who was 5' tall because they would say she was way too short to ever be hired.

I thought Clark was SOOOO pretty - until I heard her talking about Isis, now her attitude has made her turn ugly. :sad2:

Clark needs to straighten up. It's not all about her.

Alaska girl. I don't want to hear all season about how she didn't have electricity or indoor plumbing. She doesn't seem real bright.

Isis isn't going to win this. It's this years hook.

I agree with PP's that say the asian girl will win.

BTW a tranvestite is far from a transgender person. Calling anyone a "tranny" is not polite.

Last cycle there was a contestant who the judges kept saying had some "drag queen" qualities. I think that everyone on the panel used the term "tranny" with reference to her at one time or another. I'd never even heard the term until Tyra & Crew used it.

I think it was good without all the extra, Jays hair is a bit to 80's frosted. LOL
Agreed.

Right, and they weren't using it in a polite way in that case. They were saying she looked like a bad drag queen, which is different than someone who's transgendered. I doubt she will win, but I don't think she has no chance. Do you honestly think that most of America would notice that their Covergirl was not born a woman with the right makeup and lighting? All of their models are funky looking, people who you'd think were awkward on the street. I think Isis has a fighting chance, since she had the best picture so far.

I was happy with last night's decision. How about you?

Poor Hannah! I don't think she meant to sound prejudice. I think she was trying to explain herself (rather clumsily) and the girls kind of ganged up on her.

Anyone else watching?

I was also happy with last night's decision. I don't know where these girls come from but haven't they ever seen the show before going on it? She should've known talking back at judging would not be tolerated and was even warned last week! And the whole "gotta pee" thing at the challenge was ridiculous.

I don't think Hannah is prejudiced either. I think maybe she just doesn't know any better but that's really not an excuse. When it first happened the girls tried to explain that she needs to think about what she's saying and it didn't seem like she was open to their advice or she felt they were picking on her. So, they did. It's a competition and they found a way to break her down.

I am also happy with who left....I was very surprised that she made it into the house at all. Maybe they just let her in so they could lecture her about her skinniness.

As for Alaska Hannah, she just needs to fess up that she has never been around people of color or urban folks...that might give them a chuckle, but they might treat her more kindly then.

Nekysha, to me, looked like Saleshia's ugly, skinny, loquacious twin. And couldn't model to save her life. I, too, was surprised she made the house. I knew when she and Isis made the bottom two that N was getting the boot. Isis has more story left in her.

Sheena's belated confession about her breat augmentation was surprising. I really thought she would just let the lie stand. Maybe she is afraid of being "found out" if they do a nude or topless shoot int he coming weeks.

Hannah is only 18 and probably grew up in an entirely white neighborhood. Alaska is only about 3% - 4% black, I believe. She probably also doesn't know any transgendered people. If I was a sheltered kid who had some - male, female, or other - dacning sexy and looking like they were going to give me a backwards lapdance, I might react in the same way. She is a kid, and so what if she described herself as the Whitest white person? Did I miss her sneering at someone and calling them ghetto or something? Joslyn, at 23 years old, should be a little more understanding of someone 5 years her junior, and experiencing many things (like running water and electricity) for the first time.

I thought Elina, Marjorie and Lauren Brie all took fantastic photos this week.

It would be sweet if some of the more urban girls would take Hannah under their wing and teach her some street smarts, about urban culture, etc. I don't think she was bragging or being racist when she said she was the whitest white person...I think that was her inartful way of explaining that she's had a pretty isolated existence so far.

Backwards lap dance? Seriously? I did not see that connotation at all to what Isis was doing.

I think this is a learning experience for Hannah. It's good for her but it's going to be painful to grow.

IMO the big problem with Hannah - the one that set the other girls off - was when she said something like - I'm not black, I'm not going to walk into a room and yell hey.

That is a very generalized statement as obviously not all people of color do that and in fact some white people do it. Walking into a room and being loud (or quiet) has nothing to do with color or creed but has to do with personality.

I still don't think she meant it to be racist and I don't think Sheena and Brittany did at first either as they tried to explain to her to think and watch what she says. Then for whatever reason they changed their opinion, maybe something in the editing or something I missed?

If the majority of what Hannah knows about lack people was what she has gleaned from televisioon, then why is it at all surprising that she thinks all black people are stereotypes? Most black comedies and videos on TV portray black women as short tempered, swaggering witches or loud party 'hos, and most men as clowns, players or angry political activists. Instead of ganging up on her, why couldn't *one* of them gently explain to her in private why stereotypes are not always correct? And for the love of God, would it be possible for the one who chose to do this to use proper English grammar? I just think Joslyn, Nekeysa, etc. acted just as badly as dopey, sheltered Hannah.

Hannah said something about Isis dancing too close to her, so I assumed as part of the Truth or Dare game, Isis was dared to dance sexily for the girls or something of that nature. [The part right before the so-called assault was heavily edited.] I was viewing it as Hannah might have - as a sheltered little doe, she very well might have seen the dance as something too sexual and threatening in nature, like a backwards lap dance. Sorry if the subtleties of what I was trying to say didn't come across to you. I don't personally see what Isis did as sexual, but I honestly think Hannah did.

So who went home? I won't be able to see the show till the weekend and I am dying to know. If you don't want to spoil in the thread, you can PM me. Thanks.
