We're enhancing the WDW-anticipation ritual by reading (aloud) a Florida-related children's book -- a classic called FREDDY GOES TO FLORIDA. It's about a group of farm animals from New England who decide to migrate to Florida one winter -- a cow, a horse, a cat, a dog, a rooster, a pig (Freddy), etc. (A robin draws them a map!) The book (by Walter Brooks) was first published in 1927 but has been reissued along with others from the series. It's a hoot -- and the writing is very tongue-in-cheek. Great story (they have a very humorous tangle with alligators), funny characters -- it would make a wonderful Disney movie. 
Other anticipation traditions:
- A countdown calendar -- remove a paper ring from a chain (you can make them crown-shaped for little princesses) or draw a Mickey on a calendar page
- We put up a gallery on the kitchen door of the last few years' worth of first-night Chef Mickey photos. Put resort maps up on the fridge.
- Get out some "Everybody Neat and Pretty?" hand lotion from the resorts. The fragrance is very evocative!
- Exercise to the old Denise Austin episodes filmed at the Polynesian, Beach Club, etc.
- View videos, photos, scrapbooks from previous trips.
- My kids do a "create a hidden Mickey" challenge around the house for each other to find. (If you draw one on the bathroom mirror in condensed steam, it will magically reappear the next time the mirror steams up.)
- Shop for new socks, tennis shoes, and other necessaries -- which we always time for the pre-Disney period!
- Play Disney World resort CDs on errands in the car. (How else are you going to learn all the words to "It's a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow"?)
