Our flight doesn't leave MCO until 6:30 p.m. We plan to visit Downtown Disney and the different resorts to check out Christmas decorations the day of departure. Which requires us to send our luggage to baggage check at the Poly while we wander around. So when we check in at the airport and they ask us if our bags have been out of our control since they've been packed we have to answer yes. How early should we arrive at MCO (as I'm assuming they'll probably check our luggage inside and out)?

This was discussed in another thread, but I don't remember which one. While the luggage was not in your control, it is considered to have been secure. If you want to feel even better about it than that, check your luggage after you get it back.

Weeeellllllll - times have changed. I would have answered "no" to that question a month ago. But now, I think it is everyone's responsibility to comply & respect the new security rules. At Disney, we have always left our bags with bell services on our check-out day & reclaimed them for our Mears or TTC transfer to the airport. Last year at OKW they were lined up along a sidewalk & left there for the day. We had to present a claim check to take them, but could someone have slipped something into an outer pocket of a bag? Probably. Please consider all factors when answering the airline/airport/baggage questions. Although some might consider all Disney workers to be trustworthy & "secure", we really don't know what type of screening those employees have been through or who truly has access to the bags in storage. I guess we all have to hope everyone is honest & careful. God Bless America!

I think that it is great that you are taking the time to seriously consider these issues!

I think the best thing to do is to take an extra 10 minutes *before* Mears or the towncar picks you up and search your bags yourself. After all - if something is in there -- do you really want to be the one carrying it to the airport? Can you imagine the hours of questioning that you and your family will be put thru if airport security did find something??????

Find a quiet corner and look through your bags and then repack them. Then you'll honestly be able to answer yes to the question that the bags have been in your possession since they have been packed.

Toby'sFriend...of course! Now why didn't I think of that? What a simple and easy solution! And, I for one, will be very careful about what I pack to begin with! I'm taking ONLY the clothes and items I am absolutely sure that I need.
