(answered - Thanks!) How many people does a van taxi hold?

We're a party of 7. I've searched and looked at some websites but not found a number. Or would it be better to split between 2 cars? (Better yet, I'll take donations for a limo. )

Taxi vans out of MCO hold 7 - 9 passengers. The SUV which is becoming popular will hold 7 or 8 passengers depending on the interior makeup. All Mears transportation vans are 7 passenger vans. All vans sitting on the stands at Universal, Sea World and WDW are Mears taxi vans.

How do the fares differ between an standard cab and a 7 pax van cab? Where can I find a WDW taxi fare chart, showing fares from resort to resort, or resort to park? Anyone know of one? I think the cab option is often better than Disney transportation, especially resort to resort.

The fares are the same whether you use a sedan or a van if you take the Mears transportation vehicles off the taxi stands. They all have meters and you should insist they use them.If you need an approximate amount or want to set up a taxi ahead of time call Mears at 407-422-2222.

Thanks for the info, Ed. I'll make sure to program that Mears number in my phone for my trip, as we are a party of 7 and have some resort dinner reservations we'll want to get to via taxi.

Would you know if Disney post the average taxi fares to different locals at the valet stands? I've seen this at some other hotels in resort areas, and it is a great help.

No, Disney does not post the fares to the different locals. There is a taxi estimator on this board and you could go to that. The amount is roughly akin to $2.00 per mile. Just don't let them guys flat rate you on the Disney property. It will not be to your advantage.
