Answer to don't you get sick of going to WDW?

Well then, you fanatics are the PERFECT crowd to ask my newbie question... (I am a fanatic-wannabe )

Is the 4/3 deal the best you've ever seen? I was thinking with the room AND park tickets at the discount, it sounds AMAZING to me! But I've been told by many a AAA fan that they can do better...

And... bounceback and pin codes seem to be towards room only, so I am still hunting for "the best."

I am courious about how good a deal this 4/3 is also. What do you actually get? For the last 2 years we have bought DVC points from DVC owners and are paying between $80-$115 a night for a studio at AKL or SSR sun-thur, I buy my tickets from Undercover Tourist through the special link they have so I get a little off the tickets. This makes Disney affordable for us but am I missing something better?

But last week Dh and I looked at each other and at the same time we said "I would rather go to WDW" and just like that...we changed our flight and itinerary.

I know that feeling well! WHen its just me and my husband, we understand each other perfectly and we both say it's our thing, its where we like to go, why should'nt we...The kids are on board of coarse, they want to go, I haven't even told them because I don't want them blabbing it!! But at some point I have to tell my mom and dad because I need them to watch the Dog! but seriously I just have guilt because my Best freind never vacations, my inlaws never vacation and my parents never vacation..I on the other hand think life is too short to be sitting at home when I could be in Disney!

This is so funny. My DH and I were just talking about this very same thing last night. I guess he told all his co-workers that we were going to Disney in March and a bunch of them gave him the "LOOK" and one of his other co-workers jumped right in and said "Of course he is, whenever he is on vacation he is going to Disney". And of course my DH does not care one bit what others say so he says to them..."of course I am, I have 2 DDs (7 and 5) plus a wife who smiles from ear to ear when we go....why wouldn't I take them back to Disney????" Gotta love the Man

I too get the grief by just my mother (or at least she is the only one vocal about it) until just a few short months ago she had mentioned to ME that she finally gets why my family loves to go to Disney so much, it is because she is comparing all the trips that my dad and her make each year (and sometimes twice a year if money allows) to Willamsburg Va. She says she finally understands why I get sooo giddy about everything that has to do with Disney.

You are lucky though, I don't know anyone besides my dh who "gets" why I go to WDW so much. Even my parents who took us every year as kids don't get why I continue to go every year, or every chance I can. They think that since I went so much as a kid, I should be over it by now.

Even my sisters who love WDW don't get it. They may love WDW but they don't go that often.

I don't have any friends who are into WDW either. But as long as I have my Dh who does, then I guess that is all I need.

I don't think I go as much as some people, it averages about every 3 years - but that's mostly because I don't want to take the kids out of school, and air fare from the northeast can blow any budge. But..even still... I have people say "again?" Now, we take a 2 week vacation at the beach EVERY FREAKING year EVERY YEAR..it's like religion, ...and no one questions that. If I say "yes, when dh and I retire we're going to live at the beach" people nod and say "oh how wonderful" yet if dh says "when I retire I want to drive a bus at disney" people think he's nuts. And guess what - the 2 weeks renting a house at the beach costs about the same as 2 weeks at disney. Its funny, but it's true.

So people need to just mind their own business.

I proudly say "yes". We know that there is more to Disney than parks..oh I don't tell them that part as I, too, am doing my part to kept down attendance. I happy about my four trips last year with a Disney cruise thrown in too.
I do offer to help plan AND go with as a guide to any of my friends.

Ok, is this a symptom of Disneyitis, I was taking DD 10 to the store with me. As we were driving, there was construction with an electric sign. My daughter who can read very well says, "Did that just say, Epcot delays?" I said "NO, it said expect delays". She said "oh no mom I think I have a problem." It was so funny .

Very very true! I go to WDW weekly. One of my coworkers snapped on me last spring and yelled at me that something must be wrong with me. He even used the "not normal" comment. He said he's never gone to any of the parks since he was a child and really just how much different could the parks be? I told him to take a day off, go with me, and I promised he'd change his mind. The entire ride home from Orlando that day all he said was "I'm sorry. I get it now." He now has an AP.

Wow, that is awesome, good for you! I wish I could take everyone I know that has never been, but they are so close minded it would be a waste. MY DH for examples, HATES DISNEY and I NEVER EVER EVER Ask him to go with me....believe me I have a BETTER time without him!

quite simply whenever i feel stressed and upset or angry frustrated - i start planning another trip - and i feel much better - i just love it (just as well since we have DVC - which we bought after our very first trip) even my 7yo has said to me can we go somewhere else other than disney world - to which i replied sure you can and went off on a 4 day trip with a girlfriend of mine and didn't take the kids - still not sure he's forgiven me yet

We have a friend who plays the role as the Bride per the article. They go camping every year. Every year they tell us we need to try camping.

So i ask the hubby, "should we do the camping where your wife and daughter stay in the hotel down the street from the campground? Or is it the camping that you all sleep in a tent and your wife complains?" that shut's him up.

His wife tells my wife how she doesn't like camping in a tent on the groudn for a week for family vaca because for her it is extra work and uncomfortable.

Just a few hours ago, my friend texted me telling to have a GREAT time in las Vegas next week, that she was sooo excited for me that I am going away, sooo jealous woohoo!!

Then I replied Oh, we changed our mind..we are going to WDW instead.

she replied...Oh. Nice.

That was it. I was going to respond back but thought, know what? I am not going to let her ruin my mood. I am EXCITED!!!! yeay!!

No-one seems to be answering your question so I will. 4/3 deal is about as good a general public deal as I have ever seen, but only great if you are going for say 6-8 days....for a shorter or longer trip, it's not so great. 40 % off room rates are about the best you will get for those, though I think generally that only shows up as a targeted pin code. (We got one this year...yeah for us! The 4/3 deal would be about $20 better total for the 7 days than the 40% off, so it's pretty close.) If you are a budget traveler and stay in the values or mods, the #1 discount has to be free dining, where everyone in your party gets the DDP for free. Usually only occurring in Late-August through Late-September, which is value season anyways, you save lots of $$$ by having (almost) all your food paid for. If you had 2 kids >9 years old, this can be an absolutely massive savings on a party of 4 (~$160 per day!). Now, in a deluxe resort, depending on the size and make-up of your party - a 40 % off code or the 4/3 deal could be better.

I agree the 4/3 deal is great if you have that much time to spend. Unfortunately, as many times as I have been to WDW, I have never been able to stay longer than 5 days at a time, its just the way DH vacation times work. Maybe some day.

This coming trip, we actually have no "deals" we used. Rack rates I guess, but it is still the cheapest trip there we have taken because we aren't taking our kids. SO I guess the best deal would be to leave your family at home!!

My family used to ask me that..."Why would you want to go to WDW when you were just there a year ago." My response "b/c it's there and I want to." They don't ask anymore, they just know that if we are talking about taking a family vacation, we mean WDW.

When they say Disney again? I tell them Disney is my religion and I must make an annual pilgrimage to the sacred shrine that is WDW.
