We are a family of 4 mom, dad, dd(6), ds(3). My dd has been asking to go to DW since she was 4 years old. I gave her a 5 gallon water container and told her when it got full we would go. She has worked really hard over the past 18 months trying to fill that container giving up tooth fairy money and all, with hope of going to DW. At this point she has 1/4 half full....

My wife and I have never been to DW and never thought of it as an ideal vacation for our family. Even then we thought let's wait they are much older so they will better memories of their visit. We happen to be going on a cruise the week after Thanksgiving DD's 4th but had 2 extra days to kill before it so I thought why not give DW a try for a day or two.

After reading quite a bit on here a day or two doesn't sound like enough time to even consider DW? I have been quite overwhelmed :confused3 by all the different parks and attractions.

My questions are:

Is it a waste of time for a day trip to DW?

If not where is the ideal place in DW to visit for children ages 4 & 6.

If you were going for a limited visit as such would you purchase tickets well in advance or would you wait until day of just in case of a rain out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

One day is not a waste Consider the Magic Kingdom. Maybe do a Character Meal not in a park. When when did a one day trip we did Chef Mickey's for dinner & went to the MK the next day.

Also think about buying Non-expiring tickets now maybe a 5 day and you can use them on your next trip, if the prices go up before your next trip you will have saved a little money.

PS my DS's first trip was at 4, DD's at 18 months & they both have great memories of those trips

Hello, Welcome to DIS!! You wouldn't be wasting your time for a single day trip. Like the poster said above you could always do a character meal. A lot of people will go to WDW for one or two days while traveling to or from another destination. Go for it!! Once you go, you'll get the bug!!!
