Well, we survived the heat, the rain, and the wind. Another Yankee Peddler has come and gone. Sue, her mom Marge, and her brother Phil were among the 30 people honored as having been a part of all 30 years of Yankee Peddler. And I was pleased that I got to see some of my DISfriends every weekend (EpcotKilterFan, Tuffcookie, and mikifan) although I hope to see many more of you next year.
The people at Yankee Peddler are in a way sort of like my DIS family. We only get to see each other once a year, and then for only a short time. We try to get together for meals, but it's hard to fit 30 people into a small town restaurant and manage to carry on a conversation with everyone. As we grow older, we see little ones grow through their teenage years into adulthood. Sometimes they come back to the festival with little ones in tow. We mourn together when we hear of a peddler who has passed away or who is too ill to attend the festival. Life happens.
And so I bid farewell to the 30th Yankee Peddler Festival and look forward to the 31st (only 49 weeks away). Glad that it's over, but sad too.
