So, we are going in Jan-Feb 2020. I was looking forward to a stay in the Gran Destino tower with CL. Yesterday morning there were discounts offered for our room type, but after 5 hours trying to b book it, getting thrown out of the website, not being able to get through on the phone, having the phone call cut off just after almost an hour on hold and finally getting someone....you get the picture.....the discount on our room type was no longer available! plus, the AP discounts were pulled in general. Aargh!

2 seniors and 2 (ages 9 and 6) grandchildren going....lots of resort time in the m middle of the day.

Anyway, I had to go to work with no discounts. Today, I can see the AP discounts, but nothing for our dates with CL in Gran Destino. I do see the AKL standard at only $257 per night (SV), however. Not CL and we have stayed here often, but about $750.00 less for our 9 nights than CSR GD. We will have a balcony (important), stay at a resort that we love, and save $$$. However, we won't experience the new tower and will not have CL (probably worth the $750 for breakfast and snacks alone over 9 nights).

WWYD? I am so torn, wanting to stay at the new resort and CL, but also not wanting to pay more for moderate with no balcony, than a much loved deluxe. I would love a split stay choice, but I am not seeing it at all at CSR now.

That sounds like a good price to me for a Savannah view room. And since you'll all be sharing 1 room, to me it would be nice to have the balcony to retreat to while the kids are sleeping. If it were me i would go AKL. Destino will be there for some other trip, maybe if you do a trip just you and your spouse or something.

I can't speak on the value of Club Level but for my family, my kids eat like birds and it wouldn't be worth it.

Actually it is a standard view room, not savanna. Still not a bad price, and we may get a partial savanna view with the standard rate. ;)

You guys would eat $750-worth of breakfast and snacks in nine days? That sounds high to me. You could order some breakfast and snack foods from a delivery service for much less than that! I agree with the previous posters to take the AKL deal, and leave the tower for some other trip. Hopefully the AKL deal will still be there when you decide to go for it.

I would book the AKL standard now and then keep checking back to see what else becomes available within the discount inventory. I'm going in both November and December and I'm still stalking discounts and availability daily - it changes constantly. But I would lock in that AKL standard rate as it's very good!

I would take AKL over Gran Destino any day especially with kids. We evacuated from the coast recently and the only thing available was Gran Destino. We did not care for it but any port in the storm at that point. It was very bright, loud and mostly younger families and conventioneers. Didn’t like the food court and the best meal we had was at Toledo...very expensive but good.

Did you plan on paying for club level fast passes? That is the only thing that would tilt me in favor of the moderate club level in this scenario. Otherwise, definitely I'd prefer AKL. It's a beautiful, peaceful resort with a good quick service restaurant (which helps compensate for not staying club level). We had a standard view room there with animals right outside our balcony 24/7.

Now that the hubbub of opening day of a new deal is over, I'd contact Disney and talk with a cast member ( off hours - during the peak of the day can be a nightmare ). They MAY be able to do something for you. Or I'd keep checking back. So that said, if you are not excited about changing to AKL, then I'd keep what you have and keep trying for the discount. After the 1st few days of the deal being released you should see some rooms opening up.

Thank you all! It seems that AKL is the best choice for this trip. WE do love staying there. I will continue to try to get Gran Destino for a few days, as part of a split stay. But, for now, we have AKL booked!!!!!

I will keep checking for Gran Destino discounts, though!
