I've read with interest, the solo trippers out there. I've been threatening to do it for about 3 yrs now, as I only go with my dd9 (hubby isn't a fan - dang him!). Sooooo, with FL resident room-only rates for Aug-Sept just announced on 6/19, I booked it! Sept 26-28th at POR, where I've never stayed. I love CBR, but wanted to try something new.

Anyone else going at that time? I have a basic outline of an itinerary, as I NEED to ride RnRC, ToT and EE, since the kid has been holding me back, but other than that, I want to hit all 4 - no water parks without kid.

DHS had AM EMH on 9/27....Epcot PM on 9/26. Hope to hit them. Thinkin' AK in the AM on 9/28 before getting in the car and heading back south... sigh.
Gotta do MK, probably later on 9/26, since they're open until midnight.

Yeehaw! I'm so excited!

Any tips are appreciated - about POR, solo travel, anything else you may want to share.

TIA

you are going to have a great time. wait..you'll see..........this will be the 1st of many solo trips. so much fun having the freedom to do what you want to do and when. for me, the best thing i did was go wherever the wind blew. i had made a plan before i left but once i got there..the plan went out the window. one day i even slept in and didn't hit the park till the afternoon. i could never do that with the kids along.

oh......you have me dreaming of my next solo trip.

oh i forgot; you mentioned you were going to POR. i did POFQ solo and you can read my review below. the resort is really beautiful and i felt safe there.

Thanks, Candice! I just read your trip report, and agree that it was probably a bit too long a stay for a solo visit. I'm only going over a weekend, but will probably, like you say, go solo again and again. I really want to do that KttK tour, but won't have time this time. Something to look forward to in the future! I can't wait! I have something new to obsess about, as I was so into the Dec. trip, it was driving me crazy that it was so far away!

one thing i will definitely do different next solo trip is plan 1 or 2 dismeets. somewhere in the middle of the trip when i feel lonely. i also didn't try any table service restaurants at disney alone so i want to try that next time.

Thanks, Candice, for the trip report. I'm going solo in November and a bit anxious as it's my first time without my husband and daughter (I still can't get over the fact that they don't want to come with me). I'm staying on after a conference, so I'll be working first. Your TR gave me courage!!!

Congratulations on booking your first solo trip!! I'm taking my first solo trip in October and am alternately psyched and nervous about it... but mostly excited! Hope you have a great time!!!

Congrats on your first solo trip!! I took my first trip without my daughter in May, and it was liberating! I was with some people from the DIS for the majority of my time, and it was wonderful. The times that I was alone, wandering the parks, watching parades and fireworks, and I even was at Jellyrolls alone for a while, were amazing, and I can't wait to do it again! Just keep your mind open and allow yourself to do what YOU want to do. I know I learned a little about myself that trip, and the way I actually prefer to do Disney.

I thought about doing at least one TS, but I have 7 booked for December, and based on a couple other TRs on here, I really want to try Beaches & Cream and EoS. It's such a short trip, I don't think I'll feel too lonely!

Thanks! How long is your trip going to be? Anything you are really looking forward to? I'd be happy to hear of your planning!

Thanks, jadedbeauty! I cannot wait! I have my first draft already scribbled down in my notebook of what my agenda is, but nothing shall be written in stone! (except those coasters! gotta do it!)

Would love to hear of other's experiences, especially ladies. Did you feel safe all the time? Anything make you nervous?

TIA

I took my first solo trip last Dec and like most here, absolutely enjoyed it and can't wait to go solo again. I stayed one night at POP because I arrived so late and switched the next morning but I could have stayed there, I felt completely safe (and I was concerned about that before I went) I wouldn't have stayed at POR because I stayed there with my family last trip. We loved it there. I think you will too, try for a preferred room, some of them are way out there. A few times in the parks I thought about my family and started to get sad but I reminded myself they would be coming with me again and I needed to take advantage of the chance to do all the things they wouldn't do.;) I found I could do a lot more in less time with just myself to take into account. I also changed my plans a lot, mainly because I didn't think I would be into all the Christmas things but what did I know:confused3
So congratulations and have fun:banana:

Thanks, Liz! I am looking forward to POR. I think I will call and tell them I would like to try to get a preferred room, as I am solo.

I had my very first feelings of guilt starting last night and lingering into today, because I listed on another thread, the things I would do/wouldn't do, and one of my wouldn't do's was "watch Stacey". Then I started thinking how much my dd9 loves watching that over and over and over, and if I happen to stumble upon it while on my solo trip, it will remind me of her and our trips there together and I'll be sad....AHHHH! I must fight the guilt demons! I mean, we ARE going to be there in December! And I'm JUST going solo for a weekend!

Oh, help!

..no, really, I'll be ok...:worried:

Oh no!! The guilt monster!! I felt the same way for a while, it will get better!! Just keep reminding yourself that you are not taking away your DD's time, you are just giving your self some of your own time!!! You deserve it!!

Good for you! I can relate, I have my first solo trip coming up in August, 21-26 at ASMu. I am nervous and excited! It is something I've always wanted to do and it just sort of fell in my lap to make it happen. I am looking forward to a lot of things, esp KTTK.

There are some great solo trip reports out there to get you inspired! I love reading them!

Thanks! I think the feeling has passed! At least for now...We'll see as the date approaches - 88 more days!

Thanks, Allyson! Please post after your trip as to how it went! There are some fun TRs on here, which have inspired me! I'd love to do the KttK tour, but I won't have time this trip. I guess I have something to look forward to for my 2nd solo trip, whenever that may be! (I've actually already been looking at the 2009 calendar!)

Have a great time! I'm sure you will.

Hi Jeanerella!

I have just booked my first solo trip for Sept. 25-28. Maybe we can get together. I don't really have any plans -- other than to have fun! I'm looking forward to being able to do what I want on my schedule. My last trip was with my mom who has arthritis and had never been to Disney before -- it was fun, but we only had time to hit the highlights (and no coasters). The 2 trips before that were with my niece -- who is fun and likes the same stuff I do, but she could get very cranky!!!

Anyhow, let me know if you want to get together for a meet. I, too, would like to do Beaches & Cream. I don't plan to do any ADR's -- unless I can get into Le Cellier (fat chance at this point). I think my (very) tentative schedule is much like yours - I'm thinking Epcot on Thursday, MK Friday AM then either back to Epcot for EMH or MNSSHP (still on the fence about that one), DHS for EMH on Saturday then back to MK for PM EMH (if I'm still awake!) and finally AK before catching DME back to MCO.

Hi, Niclodn!

Sounds like fun! As the date draws closer, I'll let you know what my schedule will be. I'm hoping to get done with my work on Thursday that week, or else, just have a little to do on Friday so I can leave earlier on Friday. I'd like to get up there before 7 or so. I'm gonna try for around 3 or earlier. Then, I'm bussing over to Epcot, walking to B&C, chowing down, then going back to Epcot! Can't wait to try those burgers! And I don't usually eat burgers, but they really look good!

We'll keep in touch.

you know what i took my first solo trip to wdw a couple of years ago. thought i was gonna hate it, miss my family etc. WRONG! I LOVED IT. started on the airplane, took myself all the way to the back, when plane landed and time to get out, i was half way up the aisle, not on purpose its just that i didnt have to wait for anyone. took ME to pop we stopped at port orleans first, no biggie as it was just me . took the first night unwind, had supper and shopped at pop. next day took taxi over to dolphin, checked in there and went to epcot for the day. next am went on dcl, when i came back 3 days later i did not go to airport, i went back to pop hung out at pool all say and then went to mnsshp that night, which was alot better than sitting at the airport all day waiting for a plane, the nicest thing was i got all the amenities at the resort and on ship to myself:banana: , i was a bad girl and used all the towels in my room:eek: i was able to talk to other children if i wanted to but when i didnt want to i didnt have to:rolleyes1 , and i enjoyed that trip so much im doing the same thing this sept:cool1: i have now been on alot of solo trips and i must say i love going with my family but its nice to go solo too:yay:

Sounds like a blast, disneydeb! Makes me look forward to it all the more!
When are you going in Sept? Are you staying at Pop again?

I can't wait!!!

Looking forward to hearing more about your solo trip! I'm doing a family trip this time, but am planning on my first solo trip next December.

I'm almost looking forward to next year's trip more than this year. I can't wait to spend my vacation doing all the things I want to do that no one else ever wants to.

i'm flying down sept 24th, staying at riverside, planing on taking the river cruise to dtd and relaxing, then maybe i'll go over to the beach at the poly and watch the fireworks, good view there, next am going on dcl, when i come back from there on28th, i'm going to pop and to mnsshp that nite, and flying out the 29th:cool1:
