We just did our first cruise on the magic.

We loved it.

We are looking at March cruises and for our dates it's looking like the Wish, Destiny or Fantasy.

We want to go to both islands.

I guess when I see pictures of the newer ships it feels ... commercial. I think that's the word. My kids would love it, but I really liked that traditional old school feel of the magic.

The only thing I can compare it to is that we loved Disneyland for a long time thinking we wouldn't like DisneyWorld and how big it is- but then we went to DisneyWorld and loved it, but Disneyland is still "home."

So... what do you think?

The Fantasy is going to be more like the Magic style wise.

Fantasy atrium during my cruise last October

The Wish & Destiny will have the same layout a little different from older ships plus they have a lot more IP theming.

The Fantasy would be closer to the feel of the Magic.

@Skippyboo and I were posting at the same time.

If all three options are the same length/itinerary/cost, I'd probably do either Wish or Treasure. That's only because we haven't been on either of them and we've been on the Fantasy.

My goal is to cruise on all the ships eventually.

The OP wants to go to both islands, Treasure is only going to Castaway during its eastern/western Caribbean itineraries.

If you liked the Magic I would definitely do Fantasy. I haven’t been on the new class of ships but I love the classic feel of the original four. You can always do the newer ships in the future! And maybe the costs will be lower when they aren’t so new (probably not but I’m hoping).

Another vote for the Fantasy, she kind of is a plussed version of the Magic (adult pool is a bit of a downgrade, but not as much as newer ships). The only caveat would be if one of your biggest wants is shows during dinner, like Rapunzel on the Magic. Fantasy only has Animators Palete as a show restaurant. The newer ships have two shows: Marvel and then Arrendale (Wish) or Lion King (Destiny).

Marvel on Wish is basically a little video and then film clips from MCU movies with Spiderman popping up at the end. I didn’t find that great. I did like the Marvel night 2 with Groot that they do on the Treasure.

Recently cruiser on the Fantasy with my 4 year old. He loved goofy golf, the AquaDuck, and the pool deck. We also enjoyed Midship Detective Agency and he had fun with the magic floor tiles in the kids club. For all these reasons, I personally feel like the Fantasy and Dream have a ton to offer for kids! We also visited both Castaway and LC. My son absolutely loved Rushout Gush Out on LC.

I don't think you can go wrong with any ship but if you favor the older ships I think you will enjoy the Fantasy and I think your kids will be just as happy on the Fantasy, if not more. Whatever you decide, enjoy! (I'm personally hoping to do the Treasure next year but that's more my preference than it would be for my son. 😬)

You are right, they all have a different feel to them, and you might find you prefer one over another... but I wouldn't go by pictures or you tube or even people's personal preferences... everyone said why they wouldn't like the Wish, but I actually loved it. Shrugs. But to your example, Disneyland is home, but you love Disneyworld. Do you regret experiencing both? I think you can't go wrong regardless of which ship you chose, it will be a different experience but that doesn't mean it will be a bad experience. I'd pick by the itinerary and timing.

The Dream class ships (Dream & Fantasy) are better than the newest ships imo. I recommend the Fantasy.

Thanks all-

I think we are debating a couple days at WDW followed by 5 days fantasy cruise with stops both islands

Or

A back to back on the dream- 3 nights followed by 4 nights. Both islands- one on each of the sailings.
