We are going to WDW in July and have been going every year for the past several. I always like to do something different and so I booked the Ohana Luau. The cm who booked for me felt like this would be the best show for my group (with the fire thrower). I have DS's ages 15, 13 and 9 and a DD age 11. After reading the different opinions about the Luau, the Hoop dee doo review and the BBQ, I am confused about which one would be best for my group, if any. My oldest will probably think they are all a drag unless we end up bringing his girlfriend. The other three love a good laugh. We've done other character meals through the years, so that's not really important.
My DH will do anything I plan. I'm the only one who really likes Country music, but everyone else loves stupid humor.

So -- I'd appreciate any opinions. Thanks.

Or should we just skip the shows and go somewhere great for dinner?

if your family loves to laugh, then it is the HDD!! great fun and the food is not too bad either. the music isn't really country music, but it is not rocknroll either! LOL it is a fun evening out--go for it!:p

Is fun with a country band and lots of line danceing and a self serve buffet. The buffet is BBQ ribs and chicken plus baked beans and other picnic fare.We have been to Luau, is good show also been to HDDR which is our favorite. If you like puns and slapstick humor with some good songs mixed in then I would go to HDDR.Heck go with one this trip you think your family will enjoy, then you got a reason to go back and catch another dinner show next trip.:earsboy: :sunny:  :earsgirl:

What did you think about Mickeys Backyard BBQ. We have done HDD & the Luau, and we wanted to try thr backyard BBQ this time. We were going to try to do the campfire/sing-a-long/movie afterwards. Is that possible?

Thanks

So it sounds like I should cancel the Luau and go for one of the other two. Hmmmm....

My vote is for HoopDeeDoo!! It is a lot of fun (and funny!) Lots of slapstick humor, puns, jokes, goofiness. The food was good and easy (since it comes to your table and you don't have to get up - lol).

Have fun, whatever you decide!

If everyone likes stupid humor, go for Hoop Dee Doo. We have enjoyed this show every time we went. It's funny, entertaining and the food is good too!

I called today and got reservations for HDDR for 7:15 on July 1. I thought that was a good time. I cancelled the Luau (can only afford one of these per trip!). I wasn't sure if we should take the earlier time, but I don't want to be rushed if we go to a water park during the day. The later time was too late for us.

Appreciate the advice. Thanks!
