Another week without 2013 rates

If it's not out by next week then I'm going to book room only so I can book ADR's for 180 + 10 on July 10th.

Yeah but they can make reservations up to 190 days at the 180 mark (180+10). I don't think many people will have problems with getting reservations, just maybe not their first choice time. Europeans typically eat later than us though, so I think the earlier the better. I just don't want to have to call Disney or go online every day for 9 days at 6/7am. >_< But hopefully by the first week of August they'll have the 2013 rates out.

I did that in 2011 and it was a good thing; my 180 date was in November and IIRC the discount I wanted didn't come out until just about New Years. Switched from room-only to a full package then, but my ADRs came with me. You don't have to cancel & re-book the ADRs if you add a package, or change resorts, or anything.

You know you can book your ADR's without having a room reservation. I have never understood why people think they have to book a room to make ADR's.

While it is true that you are able to make a dining reservation at the 180 day mark from your check in date plus ten days into your vacation stay with a room only reservation there is a caveat. That caveat is that if you want to book a location that requires full payment upfront like CRT and HDD you would need to pay for it immediately unlike with a Package plus dining where it is just a cc guarantee.

I usually make mine about 2 months before we leave, and get whatever I wan't. I have never understood the big panic over ADR's. There is always a lot of availability up to about 2 months before trip. You are certainly not going to have a problem at 180 days vs 190 days. You would have to book a package to use your dining plan for res like HDDR and the Fantasmic package. Packages are not available. It's seems like a waste of time to book a room only and then switch to a package in a month. There is really no need to do that if you just want to make ADR's.

This was my situation for our March 2012 trip. I was able to get about 90% of my ADRs within about 45 days. For our December trip, I did go and get F! and a few other ADRs that I knew are at risk for selling out or are holiday related. For December, I also grabbed dinner at TRex because I couldn't get near there for our March trip. I think certain things are a must do a 180 days but that list is small.

I just called to estimate room-only costs for the new timeframe we're considering, and the rep "assured" me that new package pricing will be made available before the 180 day window (if we were traveling Jan 19 - 26, that window would be July 23rd).

This is much different than the answer I got when booking our April '13 dates (just last week) - that rep said it would be "the end of August" before 2013 rates were released.

So who knows!

Understand that! I have called every week for the past month to find out what the heck is going on with the package rates but the CM's all seem to have a different answer. I'm going in April and don't really want to be locked into a room-only rate and have to deal with drama in switching it over (been there, done that one) Heck, I can get airfare a year in advance but we can't get packages? One CM i spoke with said that the ticket prices themselves have been released but not package prices...so who knows...This 180 day stuff is driving me goofy!!! til then...we'll just keep waiting and waiting and waiting...

I watch both the Disboards and the Disney site. The last two or three years, I've found out about the package price release dates here on the Disboards.

I called Disney Travel on my way home this evening to find out if they knew when the 2013 packages would be released to the public. Without any hesitation whatsoever, the castmember said the last week of July. Now I know that we can't always depend on what they say but she didn't pause or say "around" or "some time near". It was a definite last week of July. We shall see!
