Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I have now had one denied for the second time, but they didn't tell me why. That's frustrating. They originally denied it because it looked orange and there was noise in the background. I fixed that.

Could somebody watch and give me some pointers?

Thanks

The orange was gone, but I'm wondering if the problem is the echo from being in a bathroom? If so, then we really need to be prepared for denials.

Your review looks and sounds crisp and clear to me....

As opposed to this morning, when one of their "featured" reviews had the bounciest camera work ever. So not only did expo approve it, they had it on the home page. :confused3 It is all in who reviews your review. As I've said before, it's like calling Disney CRO. One person gets the deal of a lifetime with an understanding CM, someone else gets no breaks at all and a CM with an attitude. There is no consistency, no rhyme or reason to expo. All you can do is the best you can according to their guidelines. After that, it's a complete c*ap shoot.

You're doing a good job, even if they refuse to see it. Good luck!

Ok, not sure why I feel the need to post this, maybe because this thread is where it all started for us, but my family and I are officially done with expo. I have been filming reviews for expo since July 2007. DD quit several months ago, I quit in January, and the last member of our family quit yesterday. :upsidedow

He sent in 3 reviews for April. All 3 got rejected. They nit picked the reviews to death and the reviews did not deserve that (you veterans know what I mean). From their feedback, one would assume expo would like us to have a professional camera, be professional videographers, use professional lighting, use an expensive TV for DVD reviews, and I guess we need to act like cheerful celebrity hosts or whatever and know exactly what to say and what not to say, in order to meet their criteria for April and beyond.

Yet there still continues to be an incredible amount of highly inferior reviews getting accepted and showcased every day. Shaky (and even spastic, lol) camera work, bad lighting, uninformative, can't see the product, can't understand the reviewer, the list goes on. It is unfair and frustrating. There is no consistency in the review process. The pain is definitely no longer worth the gain. :headache:

So we are done with the favoritism (he who gets rewarded with prizes, $$$, and even employment, for some of the worst reviews on the site) and all the other anguish that was such a huge part of getting reviews accepted (again, you veterans know what I mean). I think expo wants to be You~Tube, so I feel we are getting out just in time. The site is much too user unfriendly to actually research your next purchase anyway, so I doubt we will visit it for its original intended purpose. :sad2:

I feel a little bad for all you newbies that just discovered expo. You missed out on its heyday last summer when it was almost fun. I can't even offer any encouragement like we used to here, but I will wish all you newbies and veterans that plan to stick with it, the best of luck. :thumbsup2

I am glad that I learned how to upload videos to the computer, I wouldn't have done that if it weren't for expo. I'm also glad I can finally get this off my chest without fear of having our reviews rejected because expo reads this board (they do, in case any newbie didn't know that).

I don't feel bad about leaving. We are more than ready. New projects await us and life goes on. :)

Thanks for reading,

I think as usual, it just depends who watches when and what the mood is of the reviewer and expo that day. I did one month where over 90% of my reviews were rejected, when I would ask it was a different reason each time. It was odd. I stopped for the month, started back up the following month and no issues. I haven't submitted one yet this month but I am not ready to give up, maybe take another month off if something happens. I think it was a good break for me and expo though. I had run out of things to review.

I too wish I had found expo earlier. I found it at the end of January. :( I am kicking myself taht I kept overlooking this thread and now may never make the money I was hoping for. I am just hoping I can get a few accepted every month now as I really wanted to help my husband iwth Disney costs.

My husband just had his first video rejected. That's 4 this month already. We're still trying to get that first one approved. I don't really want to give up but I'm getting a little frustrated. Like everyone else, we could really use some extra money.

I'm with you CuKal. I've uploaded 4, and they've all been rejected, but I'm not giving up hope. I was really hoping to keep making some money from expo because it was how we were earning extra money for our October trip. I guess we'll see what happens with the ones I redid.

I uploaded 3 and only 1 was accepted. Can you believe the accepted one was a DVD review?

One was on a phone and they said that I needed to show the features of the phone up close. I said in the review I was probably going to return it and I already have, so I guess I can't redo that one.

The other was rejected because after I ended the review, my daughter started talking. They asked me to cut her voice out at the end. I'll do that and resubmit.

My husband found Expo TV through this forum.....and had no problems until last month, when another board he was on starting slamming him for his review that they found posted on Youtube. Expo TV titled the review something totally false without even watching his review of the movie. The title was actually the direct opposite of review. Now with the reports of everyone being rejected, it isn't worth the hassle.

I've done 3 this month and they have all been approved. I did them the same as I always do. I'm really enjoying Expo this month. I love  the new payout.

My husband and I have made almost $5,000 since we started in July. We have always found them to be very fair. Between the two of us we have only had a handful of rejections.

No pointers, as I'm new to this and the video looks and sounds fine to me.
I do have a question though and I apologize if it has been addressed earlier; Expotv will use your review online even if they reject it for payment? Since the link worked I'm assuming your video is being used :confused3

This month Expo started something new. Instead of just paying a flat rate for videos that fit the database, they now pay out only for videos they feel are high quality and informative. They give you one chance to fix any problems they see. If it still doesn't pass, then your video will still be used but only for PPP (Penny per play). So you will get paid either way, but only the good ones get the $10 up front payment. All the rest get a penny for each person who watches. Those pennies can add up.

The review process doesn't seem to have changed much if at all. I have now uploaded and had three total videos accepted.

I am glad it is working for you but there are some of us having more problems now. I do not have a video camera and they are saying my camera is blurry. So it is not the same review process. I am glad that there are those getting acceptance though. you give us hope.

Have you had any accepted WIlsonfamily?

I have only tried one. It was not accepted, said it was too blurry. I tried again and it has been pending for DAYS!! I don't want to do a lot of they are all going to come back too blurry. I cannot change my camera. :( So I am waiting to see what they say. I just want 9 videos a month. :) I may try another one since it is taking so long. Have you gotten any?

Well, I finally got one accepted :) ! I too, however, have several that have been pending a second screening for a very long time.

Has anyone had one go through after a second screening.

Wilsonfamilyof4~I'd really like to get just 10 accepted a month. Just a little boost for our trip.

We have 2 pending a second try. They've been there for a few days. I also have 1 more that I sent in this morning. Let us know if you finally get any accepted. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you!

I just got one approved, one that I sent in this morning!!!!! Happy day. I'll still keep my fingers crossed!
