Ok, not sure why I feel the need to post this, maybe because this thread is where it all started for us, but my family and I are officially done with expo. I have been filming reviews for expo since July 2007. DD quit several months ago, I quit in January, and the last member of our family quit yesterday.
He sent in 3 reviews for April. All 3 got rejected. They nit picked the reviews to death and the reviews did not deserve that (you veterans know what I mean). From their feedback, one would assume expo would like us to have a professional camera, be professional videographers, use professional lighting, use an expensive TV for DVD reviews, and I guess we need to act like cheerful celebrity hosts or whatever and know exactly what to say and what not to say, in order to meet their criteria for April and beyond.
Yet there still continues to be an incredible amount of highly inferior reviews getting accepted and showcased every day. Shaky (and even spastic, lol) camera work, bad lighting, uninformative, can't see the product, can't understand the reviewer, the list goes on. It is unfair and frustrating. There is no consistency in the review process. The pain is definitely no longer worth the gain.
So we are done with the favoritism (he who gets rewarded with prizes, $$$, and even employment, for some of the worst reviews on the site) and all the other anguish that was such a huge part of getting reviews accepted (again, you veterans know what I mean). I think expo wants to be You~Tube, so I feel we are getting out just in time. The site is much too user unfriendly to actually research your next purchase anyway, so I doubt we will visit it for its original intended purpose.
I feel a little bad for all you newbies that just discovered expo. You missed out on its heyday last summer when it was almost fun. I can't even offer any encouragement like we used to here, but I will wish all you newbies and veterans that plan to stick with it, the best of luck.
I am glad that I learned how to upload videos to the computer, I wouldn't have done that if it weren't for expo. I'm also glad I can finally get this off my chest without fear of having our reviews rejected because expo reads this board (they do, in case any newbie didn't know that).
I don't feel bad about leaving. We are more than ready. New projects await us and life goes on.
Thanks for reading,
