Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

This is the message I posted in Expo's forums and the answer I got from the Administrator, basically I think we are still left to the reviewer's mercy. I am going to upload mine because they all match their database, even though most end up in electronics. I really take offense to the last statement about people purposely changing categories. If they had categorized some of their products right to begin with we wouldn't have done that. Why should I upload and choose what they have if they have put it purposely in the lower category but that category does not fit at all?

We are at the mercy of the reviewer. All of my large kitchen appliances, stove, dishwasher, fridge, freezer are in their database and listed under housewares or electronics. So my question is..if I choose one in their database do I get paid 2 or 10?

This means that if you review a product that matches in our database, your video will be reviewed and paid out at the variable pament pricing. So if you match a stove to our database, then it will be paid out under large appliances.

If you do a review and it does not match a product in our database, it will be paid $2 unless a reviewer thinks the product and review should be paid at the variable payment price. So if your stove does not match in our database, and the product is nationally available, the review is well done, then the reviewer can choose to pay you out under the large appliances category.

We are doing this to encourage people to match a product in our database. We had many videos uploaded in August where creators intentionally did not match a product in our database because they wanted to fit the product into a higher paying category. Hopefully this will better help creators match products accordingly.

You are to sweet.

Awww... how kind of you. :goodvibes We'd love to see this sweet dog in some reviews! :dog:

Thank you! The love we get from these previously unwanted pets is truly the best reward. I have some pix of Mollie that I haven't made into a video yet but when the rest of my pet vids are approved you'll see several of our rescue dogs. I think one of the kitties is beside me in the MP3 player and I clean his ears in the T8 Keto vid that hasn't been approved yet. I have a litter scoop vid to upload and one kitty puts her nose right in the camera. The critters out number us 6 to one!!:scared1: but they are all well cared for and loved.

I feel like I am STUCK! I still have 50 pending from August from about the middle of August! I am running out of patience! Can you give me some of yours arb34@mchsi.com?
....sorry but I think I just ran out:sad1: ......I just checked for approvals only to find 0 approvals BUT 2 rejections!!!! .... one I understand, son stopped camera a second before I was done talking so the review did cut off, BUT the one that was rejected for background noise.... I was sitting outside doing the review and a darn bird was squawking in the background..... not that loud but loud enough to be heard  I guess the ones I did the day the neighbor kids were riding the 4 wheelers... not too loud on the videos but I bet it will be noticed too :headache:
so goes the patience game:scared:

Wow, we can use the last line right back at them by changing a few words:

Yep! I agree -

it's a far stretch to try to put a sandbox - crabbie from toyrus- into tools? I told expo that this is only sold in toy stores NOT hardware stores, used for one purpose only- that's to play in/with AND- if I had reviewed the sand I would understand but not the sandbox?:confused3

They were nice about it and re-categorized it, I'm tired of having to contact them every time I turn around-? It looks like they are categorizing products to fit their current agenda each month and not really playing fair!:sad2:

Sorry this happened to you. We are at the mercy of whichever reviewer we get. We have gotten a couple reviews approved that were out of sync or had scratchy sound. We also had over 35 reviews rejected for being out of sync, 1 for poor audio, 1 for not a nationally sold product, and 1 that was less than 60 seconds long.

I'm sure we have all seen the reviews that have gotten approved even with any of the following: if they are out of sync, have a loud fan blowing in the background, have horrible picture quality, are too light, too dark, scratchy sound, product is so far away you can't make out what it is, reviewers wearing hats and sunglasses, reviewers under 18 being shown without the account holder, recent reviews where reviewers not shown at all, reviews that are only 45 seconds long, and on and on...

Reviews get rejected for all the same above reasons.

The thing about expo is that is takes an awful lot of patience.. waiting to get approved, waiting to get paid, working out technical problems. It is very discouraging getting rejections. The bright side is that the more experienced we get, the less rejections we get.

Thank you tink, you are so very right and when I think that they are paying me $10.00 to review a 30 cent can of cat food makes me feel foolish for losing patience over it. :lmao:
I guess hearing a bird squawking could be distracting for someone watching the review OR maybe the person doing the approvals didn't know what the noise in the background was. Think I will email them and see if they want to change their minds on that one.;)
Okay, patience renewed now, I will go back to waiting hopefully for approvals. :cool1:
Thanks again for helping me put things in perspective.:goodvibes

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Im getting quite tired of their accusations that we are trying to rip them off when this is exactly what they are doing to us. Im thankful for the money that we have earned from Expo, it has helped a lot, but I really don't think I will end up sticking with this unless they raise their cap or go back to 5 across the board. Its absolutely gotten rediculous.

Ok well now im ticked again...lol..they are now rejecting my travel reviews because im not in the pictures...well hello im taking the pictures...and I get that...I get that they need verification BUT my daughter is in most of the pictures and she reviews on my account all the time. Why isnt that enough verification that we were there. Stinking expo....they are really trying to jip us now...someone on the forums over there mentioned that they think maybe the reviewers get bonuses for rejections or lowering products to the 2 dollar categories...im wondering if he is right?

I aggree with you :) actually I am that someone that suggested that. I have been too afraid to see the responses on there as I am sure they weren't happy with at accusation. But still... Why else would the not want to fix the database ONCE instead of going through each individual review of the item not in the database.

::EDITED:: to say I have just checked and NO ONE responded... you would think they would want to debunk such accusations before it gives people ideas. I am sorry, I am 100% letting a human being with good and bad days be the end all say in whether or not a Fridge is LARGE APPLICANCE $10 or Electronics $2... that just isn't right...

We should have a place where we can submit items into the database BEFORE we review them. Say we know we want to review our microwave but it is not in the database... There should be a 2nd place on the site (not in the uploading process) where we can submit this item in writing to be added to the database under "CORRECT" category. Then a reviewer will look at the item and category and place it "CORRECTLY" in the database. SO when we go to add the Video we can now MATCH the database. Kinda like premptive adding that just might fix some of this mess.

I do agree, patience is key. I still love this although it does become discouraging. I am sure right now with so many videos flooding in they are being pickier then usual and I do understand they need the best. It is annoying though! I was very concerned about some DH did out by the pool, to me it was loud, but it was the pool pump and stuff, no way to really make it quieter. I have had rejections of most sorts, I just make a few extra to hopefully cover those! To me this is still found money and I enjoy making money! This is helping to buy our tickets in a few weeks!

I agree with you on this. Its just getting to be more of a headache to me. I mean if they would raise the cap back to 100 then shoot I would just do a bunch of food items and be done with it. What I dont get is if they didnt want to pay us this money then why offer it to begin with. They knew what they were going to get ahead of time. I really do think they are given bonuses for rejections or re-categorizing. Their stuff is completely categorized wrong to be in the lower paying categories and its just not fair. I know this is a beta site and they are working out the bugs but why even offer this type of money to people knowing the types of videos they have been recieving.

About travel - You know how they said come Sept there is supposed to be a option for us to link the product while uploading, to verify that the product is still available? (I haven't uploaded anything for Sept, so not sure if the link option is there)... I think they should allow us to email them/or show in the review some sort of verification/proof (without showing identifyable info) to show we were actually at the travel destination since a) we are usually the ones filming and may have forgotten to show our faces while at the destination or b) some of us do not wish to show other family members in the video because (they do not wish to be on the internet or some of us do not wish to show our children/grandchildren/nephews etc on the internet, or for whatever reason). They are missing out on a lot of good travel reviews because of this.

And yes, I really think posting on this thread is where our private messanger found what he thought were fools. He didn't know that we are all too smart to fall for his sick games :3dglasses

Is there any way to make this thread private ? Perhaps that goes against the whole public forum idea here, but I had thought about it before... that expo users might want to have a less public area to share ideas... perhaps a private yahoo group? Maybe I am the only one that feels that way.

I hate to say this, but I haven't even submitted ONE thing for September yet. I have a few ideas, here and there, but really- it seems like a lot of hassle to 'demonstrate' a doggy poop bag (HAHAHAHAHAHA- actually, I'm just going to scoop up dog treats with it- not poo!), but whatever- it just seems like a big hassle.

Amy, great job! And I see you've made it to the home page with videos with the most reviews! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I feel like I am STUCK! I still have 50 pending from August from about the middle of August! I am running out of patience! Can you give me some of yours arb34@mchsi.com? :rotfl2:
Thanks so much! Now that a few have been accepted I'm going to be making a lot more reviews!!!

Tink, I never even though about that! That could be it! O well, making $2 is better than nothing!

I hear what people are saying. We will continue to do it though, because even $100 extra money would be nice.

But this morning I was running into problems with stuff being categorized wrong. We are doing a bunch of Wii reviews since video games and accessories are in the $5.00 range.
Well, every accessory I tried to find in their database they had it in the category of CLOTHING!!!!!! What????
A Wii remote is a piece of Clothing?!?!?! Ugh! :headache:

Perhaps you are right! I amm sometimes afraid they will take out their aggressions on us via rejections when they read our "constructive critism" of the way they do things.

Come on peeps watch my crazy mug in my reviews :)

And yes at the very least we will get $100.

No, you are not the only one who feels that way!
I think a yahoo group is a great idea!

How do you review a Wii game?

See- my setup was all in my son's bedroom since he doesn't ever USE it- so I'd review things from my comfy seat in there and talk about the items. My camera doesn't have a tripod, so I'd set it on my shoe rack ;) and film.

Now, it seems like they are so picky that I'd need a tripod to shoot any of the things I want to show. I can't hold my camera steady enough to get good shots of things otherwise!
