Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

WEll this sounds very exciting to me. I did register today and have nto received an email its been over 12 hours. I did send an email to the contact us.

SO here's my ?: I no longer have my camcorder and my digital camera isn't working either. I do have movie maker on my computer. Now has anyone sued a webcam?? DO I need other things or software, I am sadly very computer challenged and hope you all can help me understand what to do next?/

Thanks all!

There are quite a number of us that use webcams I believe. They are quite simple actually. You should be able to make a video with your webcam (I don't know which type you have so I don't know what you do to make the video with it) and it should save as an avi file which is an accepted format by Expotv. Good luck and welcome to the world of DISers on Expo!!!!:thumbsup2

It looks like they will, but the payment is unknown. This is a quote from their newsletter:

On August 1st, we will be announcing a new Videopinions variable payment structure. This shift will reward members for creating great videos in certain categories of high interest to the community.

All videos published will still earn you cash and play a prominent role in helping consumers make better product decisions. Plus you'll still be able to submit 100 videos for the month.

We wish we could but we can't unveil all the details just yet. But we thought we'd give our loyal members a heads-up.

Oh no! I'm so afraid they'll only be offering $1 or $2 a video now :sad1: And I just signed up!!

No wonder the site is so busy. I made my first 10 this morning and haven't been able to get on the site since.

Hopefully it will be that $5 is the minimum you can earn and really good reviews will earn more. :goodvibes

I sort of feel they are going to lower the $5 payment. That's why my husband and I each did 100 this week.:scared1: Were going to use the money for our upcoming trip.

OK I got to the site to upload but then realized that my movies are all like 200 MB and they have to be 50MB or smaller. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to somehow convert what I have, but I don't think it's possible. :headache:

i got all of my 100 uploaded earlier tonight, and my dgf is working on the last of hers...right now, i am going through my friends list and subscription list and watching everybodys videos...now i feel like i can relax since mine are done...

I hope the $5 doesn't go down but I just don't see how they are making any money off this. But you never know. I wish I could have gotten ours in this month to secure the $5 each, but our USB ports are down and with the site going so slow I'd hate to go to someone's house and be there all day only to still not be able to upload.

Maybe you will get more money per view or if someone comments on your video, etc. Or maybe there will be a residual pay for each video your referals do, which would be great. I'm hoping the change is for the positive aka more money, rather than less.

Does anyone know of a place that would offer data transfer from a memory card to a DVD/CD?

you should be able to go ro any photo lab to get that transferred...i know cvs does it....

Expo has been as slow as molasses tonight. Molasses?! Hey I can review that!

Seriously, though, it has been a very long day. Expo has been dragging and crashing since late afternoon. We spent many hours making reviews, editing, and trying to upload them. The uploading took longer than anything. Many times I could not log in.

I told my family this all seemed too good to be true so we better jump on it while we can and now already there will be changes for August. Waaaaaaaaa! I wonder if they will pay $5 for movies, new cars, and travel, and $3 for everything else. I hope not. Here's to $7 movie reviews and $5 for everything else. :drinking1 *glug glug*

Will CVS transfer videos too, I figured they would only transfer photo files. Hum, now to figure out how many videos will fit on a CD.

Webcams can be very inexpensive. It's a reasonable way to go.

Hi fellow expo-ites. I'm already having problems uploading this morning. This is going to be another long day of struggling with the expo site trying to upload.

I just noticed on their forum another user said they heard a rumor that expo is going to be paying a LOT less for the videos beginning Aug 1. While it is only a rumor, we do know from dabute's post, changes are on the way. I hope they tell us today.

I saw that forum post too. Dabute, what have you heard?

I was up at 6:30 and the site was fine but now I can't even get in. We have 78 uploaded and hoped to do our last 22 today but I am not optimistic. We can certainly film them but getting them uploaded looks like it will be a frustrating challenge!:headache:

That would be disappointing! From what I have gathered reading here and the forums there, EXPO has been around a couple of years and has always paid $5 a video (it's the number of videos that has changed). And on the television they advertise $5 a video. So it seems like something that established, it would be bad business to change. If anything, I'd hope something like, if someone clicks through and buys a product from your video, you get an additional kickback. But hopefully we'll find out tomorrow!

Thank you for your response, do I need to purhcase a different software or need any other adapters. Sorry for all the ? but sadly I am a clueless wonder when it comes to technology!:confused3

does anyone know how long it takes to see that someone has watched a video? i know i am watching many of everyones here, and its not coming up as a play for the vid. tia

No, if you go back through there forums and read there is a post on there where some claimed to have been paid about 25 with a cap of 10 videos when expo first started and then through the years the pay structure has dwindled down to 5. I really hope they dont change but if they do im just thankful to have gotten in on one month.

Heck, if they just stick with $5 per video, I would be thrilled. :goodvibes :thumbsup2 It makes me wonder how little I would be willing to accept. Is it worth it for $2 a video? $3 per video? Batteries and other costs plus time. Hmmm. I guess we have no choice but to wait until we hear the official word. Still having fun with it. :)
