I understand most of the waitlist rules but I do have a question about when EXACTLY member services will book your ressie if it comes available? Let me clarify:

I have a waitlist for two days @ VB in July. If someone calls and cancels their reservation, does member services slide me into that slot immediately? Or is it a process that runs at night? Could someone call in and book that room later in the day before the computer books my ressie that night?

Thanks

I think that this is another, "no one knows for sure", including the CM's at MS.

I have been told several different stories of how the dates are flagged. I do know that the match is done manually by CM's and that it isn't a automated function.

I have called in before and the room type that I was waitlisted for was available for booking. Just as the CM was telling me there was no way that would happen, she checked my dates and the room was there. She booked it for me as she was back pedaling her story. I have yet to figure out exactly how waitlists are filled.

You would think it would work that way, but I too have called checked on my wait list and lo and behold the CM found a villa that was just sitting there. Other times I just notice that my reservation has changed on the MS website.

I do think that if the timing is right, someone can snag a room before it fills a wait list.

That happened to me and I only knew about it because someone posted here on the boards about getting the exact same room, for the exact same two nights.

I was disappointed as it was my first DVC trip. I sent a letter to member satisfaction about it and they ended up somehow finding me the rooms and filling it. I think because I was a brand new member, they worked a little pixie dust.
