We are currently on a waitlist that goes up to 7 days before the reservation. Has anyone called during those last seven days prior to their trip and been able to get the resort they want? Just wondering if it was worth it to try. TIA

Well...in '08 my grandmother passed away one day before our trip was to begin. We called MS to cancel our reservation and our points went into holding. It was Easter week so I'm sure our misery brought about someone's else good luck because someone got to take our room.
Unfortunately with wait lists...if you think about it... you are pretty much dependant upon someone cancelling their plans to go to WDW which I'm sure is a very dissappointing thing for someone else.

We called every day last year before our October trip. The day before our arrival we were able to change our reservation. Happy for us but like Charight said that means someone else had to cancel very last minute.
We had a split stay and waitlist didn't clear. We kept calling and no luck. We asked at check-in and got our waitlisted request, so don't give up! We also have had to cancel at the last minute and have had to leave early for an emergency, so inventory is always changing. Here's some pixie dust
