Another vehicle question

What kind of transmission do you have?

  • Automatic

  • Manual

Depends on the vehicle.

My Passat is a blast to drive because its a 5 speed. My Envoy would have been awful to drive as a 5 speed. My K5, has to be a 5 speed, DBF's truck, would not be good if it was a 5 speed.

Depends on the engine and transmission package.

I owned three Hondas, and all were manuals. Me and my dad are the only ones I know who have manuals. I think manuals are so much fun to drive, in my opinion! I often drive kids in my car when I babysit, and they are amazed watching me use the stick shift, as it's the only one they ever seen! Around here, most people I know have SUVs or minivans, which are almost always automatic, so sticks are very rare!

I recently got a new stick shift car, and when I first saw it I jumped quickly to buy it, as I wanted a stick and was having a very hard time finding one in the make and color I wanted. So when I saw my car - I made a deal quick!

I owned 2 manual cars before I bought an automatic since it was the only way to buy it (Lexus GS300) since then I'm determined never to buy another automatic if I can help it. I want to be in full control, so my last 2 cars have been manual

Mine is automatic but it has a "manual" mode. No clutch but you can use a button on the side of the shifter to change gears up and down. It's not exactly the same but it's fun sometimes.

Some of the more sophisticated auto trans like on BMW's have a really nice manual mode.

AS my knee is shot the manual in the truck had to go. Got a nice 99 jeep GC out of it though so who's complaining.

I had motorcycles from the time I was 4 until about early 30's so I was use to all the drifting and shifting .

Actually BMW's are clutchless manuals, they're not automatics and tend to shift faster than humans can....Ferrari and Toyota also have made similar ones.

I find it difficult to shift with my dog on my lap, while applying mascara and talking on the phone. :teeth:

I'll stick to an automatic.
