As a prospective resale buyer... the more I read, the more I try to educate myself on the ways of DVC, the more I'm getting confused. :confused3

I'm interested in buying enough points for an every other year trip. So I will be doing some banking and/or borrowing. Almost everyone of our trips will be either during Mardi Gras (Feb. - early March) or early summer (mid May - early June)... What kind of UY should I be shopping for?

There are so many more important issues, that I wouldn't go shopping for a particular use year that coordinates with your travel schedule. Yeah, it's always a bit better to have a use year just before you usually travel, but that's only going to come into play if you have to cancel a scheduled trip and can't find a way to use/rent/give away your points before the end of your year.

However, do pay close attention to use years as you evaluate contracts. If you are looking now at two contracts - both with no current points, one with a December use year and one with an August use year. The December use year is a lot better, as you still have 2007 points coming to you, and you'll get points a lot sooner than with the August contract.

If you have the choice, a February UY would probably provide the best for that vacation pattern. If you cancelled a March or summer vacation, you'd have until the end of the following January to rebook a vacation.
