He stopped, looked at me oddly and said "so everything is 20 minutes away from here"

ummm... yeah just about.

:lmao: And really, it IS!

:lmao: I can so relate to that. Everything is 30 minutes from our house

mmm, sounds good.
I have chicken thighs defrosting in the fridge. Trying to decide what evil creation to make it into this weekend.
Do I try something new, and have the boys go :snooty: Or do I make the usual.. but I'm getting bored with the ordinary and usual lately.

I'm going to try Melody's chicken recipe. I have some apricot jam that nobody ever eats, the berry jams always win out over it...now I have a use for it.:thumbsup2

Now here's my great-grandmother's chicken recipe...

Mexican Chicken (from the kitchen of Grannie Arkansas). Yeah, I know weird getting a mexican recipe from Arkansas.:lmao:

1 whole chicken, boiled & deboned or 3 chicken breasts, boiled & shredded or whatever equivalent cooked chicken pieces you have.

2 cans cream of mushroom soup

2 cans Rotel tomatoes w/chilis

2-3 cups grated cheddar cheese

1 bag of Doritos or whatever tortilla chips you like.

Mix soup & Rotel tomatoes together in bowl. Layer chips, chicken, soup mixture & cheese (in that order). Make 2 layers in baking pan. Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes or until bubbly throughout. Serve as is or add sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, olives, onions, etc...

Ewww....just watching the news. 70% of all shopping carts have fecal matter on them. They are dirtier than public restroom toilets and pay phones. Some grocery stores are starting to put in mist cleaners that spray them with a sanitizer that gets rid of 98% of the germs on the cart. They just run the cart thru each time it is collected.

Never thought about it, but they said the worst place to put anything is in the fold out seat. Think about it, a baby with dirty diaper sits there and then you put your purse and groceries there. Ewww.

Well ladies, I need to take my old tippet off and tie on a new one, since it's a little short. :rotfl2: Then I'm headed out to my flyfishing casting clinic. Cheerio and Toodleooo.:) :) :)

Good point, when DW and I shop we put our reuseable grocery bags there!! Hmmm.

Some grocery stores have anti-bacterial wipes in a dispenser next to the carts.. most of time the wipes are dried out, completely useless that way, or they never bother to refill the container. :sad2:

It would be interesting to a do a study to see if carts in cold states (winter time) have less bacteria then say carts in warmer states with high humidity... ideal breeding ground. Then again, colder state might have more runny nose slime on the carts :scared: :lmao:

Good afternoon, hyenas!
It's sunny! :cool1:

Don't mind me, I'm just playing catch up! Had a good evening ~ It was Girls Night Out last night, so the four of us got together for dinner (as usual), and talked and ate (OK, and a little bit of drinking) until the restaurant closed. Then we stood outside in 40F and yacked for over an hour... :hyper2: :hyper2:

Maybe we should meet more often than once a month, maybe we wouldn't yack for more than six hours if we could see each other more than that? :confused3

Could it be that the grandpas are a bit lonely? Now you know where to send any unattached older ladies, they can learn a new skill .. and get a new boyfriend in the process. :rotfl:
Hmmm... Now I know what to recommend to all my single friends! "Join a fly fishing club!" :thumbsup2

Now if you want to get stared at around here, it's all about the clothes. Put on a nice dress suit, pumps, a string of pearls and you're going to get stared at. I laugh because my sister and I were just talking about how you can sit in the airport and guess where most people are from...

Pacific NW - wearing shorts in January w/flannel shirt or hoodie, a pair of Birkenstocks or flip flops. Always have a dark green backpack and a paper cup of coffee in one hand. Accompanying kids are always dressed in comfy pajamas to travel. Brushed hair is optional.

Dallas Ladies - wearing polyester skirt or pants, hair specially done up for this trip, pearls or other large ornate pin or necklace, pantyhose, blouse with large print pattern, and will be sitting in the airport's fanciest restaurant drinking tea out of a real cup!
I can't say for the Dallas ladies, but the Pacific NWer is spot-on. :rotfl2:

anyway, he starts Monday.

The sub in that class told him good luck, you'll need it. And not to trust them with the science kits

Prinicpal expects him to have a very rough 2 week "breaking in" by the students. :scared:
It's not that different than last year.. well except the principal is not sea hag :rolleyes1
G, that is awesome!!!

Especially the "no sea hag" part! :woohoo:

Oh and put a sign on the door...students entering this door during class hours will be considered part of my class and will be required to attend the entire hour! That ought to keep them out!:lmao:

Oh and a poster for the wall...students are required to stay seated during class. If you are out of your seat, goofing off I will assume you have learned to overcome the force of gravity and will expect a two page paper discussing gravity turned in the next day.:lmao: :rotfl2:

Thank you for not swearing in our classroom. Students heard swearing will be required to hand in a 2 page paper discussing how vocal cords work.:lmao:
These are great tips! :lmao:

Honestly, some of my favorite teachers (especially in junior high) were the hardest, toughest teachers. They expected your best, and if you didn't give it, they let you know it, and gave you a second chance to try again. They seemed to be the ones that cared the most about each kid, too, regardless of their abilities. They really wanted the best that each kid had to offer. :goodvibes

It's just so HUGE compared to the metro area here where we can drive from a north suburb to a south suburb in less than 40 minutes. And yes, we measure distance by time. I know.. I know..it's weird.
That's the way we do it here, too. We measure distance in time, so a conversation goes something like this:

Visitor: How far is it to SeaTac Airport?
Native: From here?
Visitor: Yeah.
Native: What time?
Visitor: What? What do you mean what time?
Native: What time will you be leaving here?
Visitor: Uhhhh, I need to be at the airport by 4:00.
Native: Oh, then you need to leave by 3:00 at the latest. Unless there's more than one of you traveling, then you can shave about 20 minutes off the time. (HOV lane)
Visitor: Well, I was thinking of doing a little shopping at the airport, maybe I should leave at 1:00.
Native: Oh, then you would be there about 1:20, you'd have lots of time to shop... :rotfl:

It's uper easy.

Put about 8- 10 chicken thighs into crockpot. Mix together about a cup of apricot jam, one envelope of Lipton onion soup mix, one can of drained pineapple tidbits or chunks, and about 1/4 cup of reserved liquid. I also add some crushed red pepper for some bam. 1/2 teaspoon? Pour over the chicken. I usually cook the frozen chicken thighs for about 3- 4 hours. Thawed I don't know.:confused3 At the end, thicken the juice with some cornstarch. Usually about 2-3 tablespoons to 1/4 cup of water. Mix into the sauce, and let thicken. Serve over the rice.

Yummy!!
My 15 DD loves this recipe. And it is so easy!!!
That does sound yummy! I'm going to write that one down, too!
Last week I made this similar-flavors recipe with chicken and cut up dried apricots. It was OK, but kinda bland. I bet this one would be a lot more flavorful! I'm going to try it out! :thumbsup2

Alex????? Whats shakin?
Just me. You?

Lunch today was "clean out the fridge." I couldn't fit anything more in there, so rather than make sandwiches, I:

1. Heated up leftover pizza for DS4. (Pizza was from the soccer end-of-season dinner last night; DH took the boys while I went to dinner with my girlfriends.)

2. Heated up leftover seafood fettucine for DS8. (From my dinner last night.)
3. Heated up leftover Chinese food from Thursday's lunch with my mom and sister.

GEESH, it looks like we eat out a lot, but we rarely eat out anymore, it was just an unusual week. :rotfl:

Eh...nothing special going on here. Hubby is sleeping, kids are playing.. same old, same old.

We did kinda loosely figure out when our next rip to Disneyland will be.... and I kinda guestimated where we could stay, and how much the trip would be and what not. Just based on the pricing the previous year.. Which I know will go up.. But it gives me some figures to work with, at least.

DH just wrapped up coaching for his two soccer teams. He coached two teams of 5-6yos. The first team had their last game last night, and went out for pizza and awards afterward. They gave DH a really nice card where they'd written personal comments from each family, AND gave him a Sports Authority gift card for $75!

The second team had their final game this morning, and one of the parents brought in cupcakes for the kids to celebrate their season. I don't know if they did awards, but they also gave DH a great card with personal thanks written all over the inside, and another gift card for an unexpectedly generous amount. WOW! These people are so thoughtful!

Their comments are great, DH loves those. One said their son had learned so much during the season and couldn't wait to go to every practice and game. Another parent said their whole family really enjoyed the season, it was a lot of fun. Yet another parent said he was a great coach and they appreciated getting him for their child. :goodvibes

So when are you thinking? Sometime in 2009, or is that too soon?

MAN, I can't believe our trip is 3 weeks away! (And I can't believe I STILL haven't made PSes!)

Girl, you are 21 weeks along now??? It just seems to be flying by! (Ummm, to me, anyway...) :rotfl2:

I know you're not fond of matchy twin names, but what about Joey? I guess that would be Joseph, but I love Jasmine and Joey! :lovestruc

No. I think it will be to soon. We are going to wait until right around Alex's next spring break. Probably March of 2010. Its about a year and a half out... but it gives me a vacation to look forward to. :lmao: If I do it right, we can drive down... and stay at the Hojos for 12 nights. In two rooms.. :scared: But it will be worth it. They have the great new pirate water park, and it will give us 2 bathrooms... and 4 beds. Anyways.. i cant wait to take the babies!

not long now. Got the suitcases ready? ;)

No! I swear, something must be wrong with me this time, I am totally not stressed (yet!), I haven't done a darn thing! We have our airfare and hotel booked, THAT IS IT. Don't even have our APs yet! I'm excited, and I know I'm going to be flipping out that week before. GEESH, what is wrong with me???

How fun for you guys to be planning a trip with the babies! It will be so much fun to experience through their eyes, all the bright colors and music and movement. :goodvibes

Yeah, it IS flying by. Totally freaking me out. :lmao:
Yeah, it's crazy fast! I can't wait to see the little boogers! :lovestruc
