I just ordered a tm. Due to budget - had to go with a Proform instead of a high-end brand. It is one of the nicer ones that Proform makes, and it has shocks on the deck. I am wondering if I really need a mat for underneath it. It will be on carpeted floor. I wasn't sure if the purpose of the mat was to protect the floor or to add cushioning for protecting my joints??? Thanks for any input!
