I have an SV room booked at AKV for March 9-15.
We are now flying in on the 8th and I would like to add on that night to the ressie.
I am 6 points short to get a Value room(I am willing to switch to the SV the next day rather than reserve one night at say POP and have to entirly change resorts, but that is still an option if I can't get a VV room).
My 11 points I do have will expire Sept. 1/08 (banked points)so I would really like to use them.
I am totally new to the transfer thing, and reading a post from earlier today, I am still a bit in the dark.
If I find someone willing to transfer to me, how is this done.
I think I will probably have to wait list at this point, so if I don't get the ressie, what happens to those points.:confused3
Sorry for all the questions, but if someone could clarify, that would be great.

It would be much simpler (and less expensive) to borrow the points you need from your Sept 08 use year.

If you have to waitlist for your additional date, the points would not be borrowed until the waitlist actually came through. If you couldn't get the day, nothing would happen.

The only downside would be if you borrowed the points and then had to cancel. In that case, those points could not be put back in your 08 UY -- they'd be "use or lose," just like the banked points you now have.

I agree with JimMIA that you should borrow points if you are pretty sure you'll go that day. Again, the downside is that you cannot bank borrowed points and you would lose those borrowed points as well if you had to cancel.

Also, you would probably not find a person willing to transfer a small number of points, as we are allowed only one transfer, in or out, per UY.

Thanks but I guess I didn't go far enough into the details.
The 11 points I do have were borrowed from my 2008 August UY.
I had originally borrowed those points along with some points I had, and booked a 1bdrm SV at AKV for 5 days, but changed the ressie to a studio SV for 6 days, thus being left with the 11 points which must be used in my 07 UY. There is no way I will be able to pull off another trip before the end of Aug:sad1:
So instead of loosing those points all together, I thought I may as well transfer some points into my account, and try to book one more night.
I guess a safer way would be for me to transfer those points to someone else, and just pay cash for a ressie there, or at a value for one night.
I know a cash ressie at AKL will be expensive (even with a AP discount if I can get one), but I've read that trying to switch from one resort to another often waists a whole day.
I guess if I decide to transfer points, they are 11 points at BWV, I also need a link to a thread that tells me how to do that too.
Too many things running around my brain this morning:coffee:
Any further thoughts would be appreciated.:)

Oh man, yes, actually, I am blond.:rolleyes1

I just checked my Vacation Details on the Members site.
I have 15 points in my 07 UY that I borrowed from 08 when I changed the ressie to an extra day in the studio, that have to be used by the end of Aug 08.
However, I have 7 points left in my 08 account.:cool1:

So your suggestions to borrow from my 08 will work as a Value studio the time we're going is 21 points(I have 22).

So that leads to another question.

If I call, and there is nothing available, and I wait-list for this room, and it doesn't come through, do all my points just stay as is, or do they transfer those 08 points into my account at the time I go on the wait list, and then I am left with 21 points in my 07 UY that I can't bank:confused:

Thanks again.:)

I believe that MS would not borrow them until the reservation is made, but I would call MS just to be sure.

Points cannot be borrowed until/unless a reservation is actually being made.

If the waitlist doesn't work out, there will be no change in the status of the points.

Thanks everyone.
I am going to call Sat. afternoon to see about the room.
Who know, maybe I won't even have to wait list.;)
All of this happened because my husband's work couldn't make a decision about giving him the week off (Winter Break here in Ontario), and only decided one day before our trip to BWV 3 weeks ago.
I am very happy he can go, as are the kids.......he is the entertainment parent and it's no fun without him.:confused3
