Although not involved with it today our station two engine and crew and the ambulance from our station responded to the call all firefighters hate, a child not breathing.
On scene they were meet by a distraught father holding his three month old child who was pulseless and not breathing. Although all members knew the child had been already taken by God they made the effort to try and bring him back but once at the hospital it was to no avail.
He was pronounced by the hospital staff. It has been a quiet day here and no other calls have come in and we go about our buisness and wait for the next call but we've all had a little bit taken away from us again.
I'll go home tomorrow and hug all my kids ages 11, 9, 6 and 1 a little longer but they won't know why and that's the way I like it.
Please when you tuck your kids in tonight give them an extra hug and kiss...
