Another torn between 2 resorts question

Hi all. I am taking the kids for a last summer fling to the World the end of August. DH will not be joining us. I am torn between Boardwalk Inn and the WL.
There is only a $3 dollar difference between the two with my AP rate. We love spending time at the resort and hanging out by the pool. A great slide is a must for DS. We plan to split our time equally between MK, HS and Epcot. I guess my main concern with BW is the lack of a quick service option, but I just love the look of the rooms! But WL has that fun looking beach. Any advice would be appreciated. Which resort would be best for a mom/kids only trip? TIA

We have not stayed at BWI, however, we just returned from a 10 night stay at WL and we had a phenomenal time. Bringing your kids alone, you would probably appreciate the compactness of the resort and the pool area that allows you to keep a good eye on your kids. As you mentioned, WL does have quick service (Roaring Fork). The menu is limited but the food was good.

I would choose WL! Mostly because its one of my favorites and the outdoor area there is really relaxing during the summer. Any stay we've had at BWI (or BWV) seems to have minor problems so its not a favorite of mine.

Your ds might like the slide at BWI better tho! The one at WL is pretty tame. Counter service at BWI won't be as convenient as WL, but if your willing to walk a bit there are plenty of options at the other resorts in the area (including 24 hour at the Dolphin).

The BW definitely. You would have easy access to the Studios and Epcot. The slide at the pool is a lot of fun too. As for CS, the Bakery has great sandwiches (accepts CS on the meal plan) and desserts to go with them. We use the Bakery for our CS lunch a few times each trip.

We've never stayed at BWI, but we love the WL . The WL is an awesome resort with a great pool, close proximity to MK as well as to the monorail resorts for a variety of dining options, and Roaring Forks for quick CS meals . I love the look of the BWI rooms and the resort is beautiful, but the lack of CS options is what keeps us from booking there.

BWI may not have a traditional counter service restaurant, but it has the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast, there's a food cart on the boardwalk that has great corn dogs among other things, and a window where you can grab a pizza.

But, if you spend a lot of time at the pool, I'd choose WL.

I love WL, have stayed 3x. It's a great resort, fun pool and beach. Boat to MK.
We have to watch the Electric Water parade while we are there during that time.

Never stayed at BWI, but stayed at BC, and love being in the Epcot Resort area.
From BWI you can walk to 2 parks. A big plus! It's true though, to get anything to eat at BWI you have to go outside. BC has The Marketplace which is one of the reasons I picked it over BWI, plus SAB.

No AK park? It's one of our fav parks!

We discovered last year that the BWI serves pastries and coffee at the small bar by the lobby in the morning and that was a plus for us. You can walk down to the bakery.

We have stayed at both and both are awesome but my fav is Boardwalk, love love LOVE being so close to two resorts! Saves a lot of time not waiting for transportation. I was concerned about counter service too but honestly didn't miss it. ESPN zone lets you place an order to go at the bar and there is a quick serve pizza window as well as a bakery with lots of options for lunch/light dinner. Tons of outdoor seating so kids can run around the boardwalk while you sit and eat peacefully plus nightly entertainment is great - rent a surrey bike the kids will live it!

I would choose BWI for the Epcot/DHS convenience, especially for only $3 more.

WL is a totally different feel than BWI, the rooms, theme, and surroundings have a more rustic feel. BWI has a GF feel to me, very polished.

They are both our favorites, behind the POLY!

I see your kids ages now in your sig, since they are 8 and 9 I think they would love the Boardwalk area. They are the perfect age to enjoy the magician, juggler, carnival games, etc, all up and down the boardwalk, and they will like the arcades at BWV and ESPN. There's tons of stuff to do around that area, rent bikes, water mice, etc. I think it's a little more exciting than the WL. Even though I love the WL don't get me wrong.

I personally prefer the WL to the BWI ... but the BWI is more convenient to EPCOT and DHS

We have stayed at and enjoyed both. I would probably choose WL. Personally I prefer the feel to WL. We liked the beach and watching the electric water parade from there. Also the boat to MK is a plus as well as quick service options from Roaring Forks. The main advantage to BWI is the ability to walk to EPCOT and DHS.
