Say a divorced ex had a ticket not used. Could they give to a friend, them link it. But then the person claimed lost, what would happen?

I'm not sure that I understand your question.

Are you proposing the following scenario?
  • Ex spouse has an unused ticket.
  • Ex spouse gives the ticket to a friend.
  • Friend links the ticket to their own MDE (which can only be done if the ticket is not already linked to the Ex's MDE account)
  • Ex spouse calls Disney and claims that that ticket was lost? Or does friend contact Disney with the claim that the ticket was lost?
Once a ticket is linked to an MDE account, it becomes the property and is under the control of the owner of the MDE account. If the ticket is used, it cannot be reassigned to another person. If it is already linked to an MDE account, it cannot be linked to another MDE.

Let's say that the ex gave their unused, non-linked ticket away and then later had a change of heart and wants to get the ticket back. Well, it might be possible to have the old ticket rendered void and a new one issued IF they could prove with a receipt that they were the original owner. Since tickets are technically non-transferable, they would have a valid claim to the unused ticket only if they could prove that they own it and the receipt showed the ticket information on it. However, getting the ticket voided out and having the new one issued could be a long, drawn out process.

It would become even more difficult if the ticket that was "lost" was used by the friend. Once it was used by the friend, it became assigned permanently to the friend. If the physical ticket itself was reported as "lost', then the friend could have a new physical ticket issued at Guest Services or they could just continue using their Magic Band (if they have one) without needing a new physical ticket.

Thanks. I was worried for friend. What if Ex's new spouse was a toad and claimed lost. After ticket was linked.

If someone claims that their ticket was lost or stolen, they'll have to prove ownership. If they can, your friend will be out of luck. Keep in mind that, while you're asking about a specific scenario, this same scenario applies to all ticket theft. I don't know if the price of a Disney ticket would be worth the risk of causing drama in a divorce situation.
