Hello
I haven't been on here for a while because I became too addicted and I was driving myself insane because the holiday was over a year away but now it's time to book flights so I'm back!
So far I have paid a deposit for us (2 adults) at Yacht Club August 2013. I wanted to book flights 16th-30th August but when I have been searching, the cheapest direct flights I can find are £984 each with opodo. Am I really going to have to pay this amount? Are they likely to just increase? Even indirect flights don't seem much cheaper at £822 each.
I really don't know what to do and I'm contemplating whether or not we should go next year.

Virgins prices have been insane lately! Just checked your dates and the economy price is around £1,611 pp :/ and checked ours for May that we paid about £550 each for and they've doubled now :O really glad we decides to book early

It's bonkers! I wanted to book early so they were cheaper but they're not. I haven't been to Florida since 2005 and wanted to go next year to celebrate my 30th plus my boyfriend has never been, but now I'm not sure if we'd be best booking to go somewhere else instead. £5000 for a holiday for 2 adults for 2 weeks seems a bit excessive!

I've bit the bullet and booked virgin m&m at £565 each for the 2 of us going on 26th Aptil, jumped up by £46 in a couple of days but didn't want to risk it going any higher! Have you looked at monarch?

Debs xx

I haven't looked at monarch, but I keep searching on skyscanner and kayak. I'll have another look again now. Thank you x

Try BA direct and to Tampa as well. We saved £1100 flying there and it is only about 20mins extra in the car to wdw compared with MCO plus getting through immigration / baggage is less onerous. Also maybe try skyscanner as they are looking cheaper than other sites at the moment.

When I posted a couple of weeks ago quite a few far more experienced travellers were holding out but they seemed to be flying mainly out of school holidays x

Good luck x

Same here, the price for our flight (for 2 adults and 1 seatless infant) have gone up by nearly £2500 since we booked them!!!

:goodvibes

We have the money saved but just not sure if I want to spend £2000+ on flights. And if everyone's experiences are that flights tend to just keep going up, who knows how much they could be, ouch! I'll have a look at BA etc, we're not hiring a car so don't really want to fly into Tampa.
Guess we need to make a decision and just pay the prices or go somewhere else.
Thank you for your replies x

Could you possibly go a different time when it's a bit cheaper? We we're going to go for DBF's birthday and Star Wars weekend but it was more expensive so we're going 2 weeks earlier instead but will still hopefully catch the first SWW

Maybe it will be cheaper to book a package are you only able to go in August as the price are alway double in August holidays

Travelsupermarket.com has flights to Orlando Sanford for your dates for £744.98pp :)

Also you could try add the flight to your booking if you booked through Disney. Just checked our dates and if we booked seperately the total price we would pay would be £1000ish more than we have paid but through Disney the package would only be £120 more expensive than we paid with the exact same hotel, flights, ddp and park tickets :0

In my experience flight prices don't always continue to go up. When I'm booking flights I check prices twice a day for weeks if not months before I book. A couple of times I've booked when the prices were first released and then seen the prices go up massively afterwards only to then go back down to the same price (or less lol) than I paid.

Sometimes a sale will come along and you'll get a better deal too. Other times unfortunately prices don't come down. I've never found airlines to be overly consistent. :)

Flight prices seem to be crazy this year alright.
We have just booked for our 3rd visit.
We want to fly direct from Dublin and all seats on the outbound flight on the 8th August are sold out with ¾ of the plane already booked for the next available direct flight! :crazy2:

We're looking for August flights as well for four of us. Direct flights with Virgin have been going between £900 - £1200 each, BA are no better:sad1:. The best that I can get for indirect at the moment is around £800 each.

I really would like direct, but will book indirect if we have to. I'm checking the prices daily and hopefully they will start to come down.

Thank you for all your replies. I work in a school so I have to be back for 2nd September. I can go any time in the 6 weeks if Disney would allow me to change YC booking but we picked the last 2 weeks in hope that the parks would be slightly quieter when US schools have gone back. We're hoping to fly direct from Manchester but I'll keep looking. It seems quite daunting all this DIY business but package prices were over £6000 to stay at Yacht Club.

Thanks again
