Another TGM Opinion

I have been a fan of the Unofficial Guide since I bought my first copy in 1996. I've been hanging out on the DIS for 7 years, and I still buy at least one new guidebook per year. When I mentioned to a friend that I subscribed to TGM's site, he said *I* could've written a WDW guidebook! :teeth: However, since I will be going to WDW during my son's spring break next month, and after reading the many raves for TMG's service, I figured it was probably worth the $18.95 I paid to get TourGuide Mike's advice, rather than buy the latest edition of the Unofficial Guide. Time will tell!

I hate to sound mean but how anybody can't figure out the site is beyond me. Must be the same folks who wait in the standby line for Space Mountain. j/k :)

Hmm hate to sound mean, but I guess those that "need" TGM are the same one's who wait in the standby line for Buzz :lmao:

The site goes in circles, never said we couldn't understand, to ME (notice I said "me") it is confusing to navigate and I found all the same info here

I use both TGM and the DIS. For advice I use TGM. For opinions I use DIS. They both have their strong points.

As my family calls me, I am the Disney all knowing god!

I have a library of tour books, my favorite of course is the the UG. I love the DIS boards and have learned tons of information from everyone here. THANKS EVERYONE!! :goodvibes I also go to the other popular sites.

I subscribed to TGM for our November trip because I wanted to make sure everything was perfect since I had my senior parents traveling with us and I wanted to make sure everything went perfectly.

I really enjoyed TGM site.....granted most of the information that was there I already knew from the DIS boards but I did pick quite of few new tips and tricks. His directions alone from MCO to OKW were perfect including landmarks.

Would I use TGM again??? Probably....I think he has a lot to offer for a nominal price.

The DIS is certainly a wonderful source of information, but I've seen questions from newbie's here like, "Tell me all there is to know about WDW"!! :rotfl2: It would take a very long time for someone who had never been to WDW to gather all the info they needed by perusing the EIGHTEEN (18) boards just in the Trip Planning Forums! TGM's info is broken down into easy steps, and even folks who think they know it all (like me) can learn a thing or two.

BTW - when people ask questions that begin with "tell me everything about ____" - I refer them to a guidebook. Maybe now I will refer them to TourGuide Mike!

No one who goes regularly NEEDS any of these things. We just all enjoy researching Disney stuff to help pass the time. But for a newbie, I'd recommend the Passporter over any message board.

You're absolutely right about that. I like doing Disney Research...now if I could only get paid for it. :confused3

I think people who have been many times sign up for TGM because Mike presents it as "information even veterans can use". Unfortunately, I didn't find that to be so. But I think many people can and do benefit from Mike's site.

It's just my personal opinion, but I don't much care for the "navigation energy" the site requires, either.

I was a veteran of perhaps 15 trips when I first signed up for TGM for a Christmas 2003 trip with my brother and his family. I was worried about the most crowded time of year. And while I do find the site difficult to navigate at times, I have learned things there I never see on the DisBoards. I also value his Best Days advice, and will likely subscribe again. Glad there is something for everyone.
