Another SWA pre-board question....

We've only flown SWA one other time round trip to and from MCO when our DD's were 4 and 26 months old. We preboarded due to the monstrosity of the Britax carseat we had to install onboard....

We are flying SWA again in 16 days. Younger DD is under 5 but no carseat for the plane this time. Do I even "DARE" get in the preboard line for fear of being scolded by other passengers even though it is permissable by the SWA guidelines for age? We are a family of 4-2 adults and 2 kids. I was going to do the preboard line solo with both girls....DH can get in the appropriate line for our boarding passes. He'll sit by himself-he'd be thrilled... I'm just concerned about having both my girls w/ me (ages 4.5 and just turning 7) I just need the 3 of us to sit together because they both have issues with flying and would be more comfortable being with me.

Anyone else preboard with a non-carseat-sitting child? I intend to try to get "A" boarding passes @ the 24 hour mark, but if that fails, I just want to ensure that both girls are with me???

The rules are Under 5 so you should have no problem.It doesn't state anything about a carseat.

I would go and try to get the A's then ask for preboard for the enitre family. They will let you know if it's limited to just the under5 +1 that they do during heavy preboard times.

We never used it but don't mind those that follow the rules set by the flight attendent.

Most only complain when it's 4 or 5 adults with 1 that looks like they're over 5.

Curious too. My darling DDIL will preboard with my DGD and she would like to also include my DS. We are traveling together and I don't mind sitting alone, but it would be more fun if we could all sit in the same area - do they allow a party of 3 adults, one 19 month old to preboard together? I sure don't want glares from other passengers....

You may get some dirty looks. It's been an issue with a lot of people who don't mind a parent boarding with the baby but don't think it's fair for the whole family to pre-board just because there's one infant in the party. And where to draw the line? One baby and 3 adults, one baby and 7 adults. . .?

If you and dad check in online and get A boarding passes I don't see any reason why you can't all sit in the same area anyway. Probably can even if in the front of the B line.

Anyone who has an A boarding pass will find it very easy to sit as a group. I've seen those holding B's get to sit together as well. The problem is when you see a mom, dad, ds who is 3, dd who is 6, grannie, grampie, aunt mary, uncle joe...all trying to preboard together so they can sit as a group. Technically, only one parent can board with the underage child. Now, if there were a mom, dad and two kids one of whom is under 5, then I don't think anyone is going to complain. It's those huge groups who feel that the family should sit together..all in one clump!!!

I actually remember the time when the airlines actually suggested that those with young kids not board until the last moment so that the kids didn't have to be seated for such a long time. Now, that isn't going to work with SW, but you could let them wait in the A line, towards the end and that way they can still let off steam for a bit longer, and still you'll be seated together. Towards the rear of the plane rather than the front but the back gets there as soon as the front, and those in the front get off about 8 mins faster than those in the back.

When we flew we were allowed to preboard with me, DH, DS9, and Ds4. The gate attendant specially called for 4 and under and that "only mom and dad and siblings, sorry uncle joe and aunt sue and gm and gp will have to wait."

We got our A tickets just to be safe both ways.
