I'm going to ask another question and hopefully this time someone can help me. Please don't ignore me! LOL! I don't fly SW anymore because I have never had a good experience with them. The time our friends are going with us on a trip and that is all they fly. They have tons of miles to use and are going free. So we are flying SW too even though we are paying. Anyway we have a 6 hour non stop flight to Denver. On the SW website it says that 2 hours non stop and over get a snack. Under that gets pretzels or something. So what kind of snack are they talking about? I would think pretzels is a snack but they apparently mean there is something a little more to the snack you get on the longer flight. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks!!

Where are you flying from that it will take 6 hours to get to Denver? Flying east or west from Denver you would end up in the ocean , and north probably above the arctic circle, and south most likely somewhere in Central
America. More than likely you forgot to factor in the hours lost/gained.

On longer flights, in our case ABQ to MCO, the snack box has like 3 items in it such as a small packet of Ritz type crackers, some type of granola type bar, and a small pack of cookies. At least that is what I remember from our last long flight. We either stop for breakfast before we get to the airport, or pack a fruit bowl or breakfast burrito to take with us.

Sorry about the time. I get confused about that! I am coming from MD. My flight leaves at 1:15 our time and arrives at 3:20 their time. I guess that would be 5 hour flight then? Is it 3 hours time difference? We are stopping for lunch before the flight but my DD wanted to know the snack. We are going to bring stuff for the kids to munch on then. Thanks!

Denver is MT. So that would be 4 hrs. The snack in the pp seems about accurate.

Only 4 hours? Yipee! This is getting better and better! I hate flying so 4 hours is MUCH better then 6.

The snack is a box with 3 items, each around 100 calories. You might want to bring a sandwich.

We were stopping for lunch before the flight. I though of grabbing some bagels and cream cheese for DD during the flight too along with snacks. I have to be careful though as two of the kids were are going with have allergies. One has peanut and the other has milk and egg. I don't get too hungry during the flight. I'm too nervous.

I think you can call southwest and let them know one of your children has a peanut allergy. I have heard of airlines having completely peanut-free flights.

It is my friend's two kids with the allergies and it is noted on their reservation. They fly SW a lot and are allowed to board the plane before anyone else and chose seats they feel are clean enough too. I was just making sure that I didn't bring anything along that would be bad. My DD's favorite sandwich is PB&J but that leaves that off the list. She will have to settle for a bagel.

i'm guessing that swa's excellent policy on peanut allergies is one of the reasons the op's friends choose to fly southwest over other airlines...

and i checked swa's website... baltimore to denver nonstop is 4 hours and 5 minutes... keep in mind, though, that unlike other airlines, they do not provide any inflight entertainment (other than the occasional witty flight attendant) so you may want to carry on a dvd player or coloring books, etc...

ENJOY :flower:

Thanks for the entertainment info. The other family is bringing a laptop and headphones for the kids to watch movies. My friends have flying down to a science. They were flying to Canada every week to see an allergist. They also fly somewhere once a month or so for other reasons. Their kids have never done anything but watch movies while flying. DD won't know how to act! I always buy her tons of books, sticker books, activities, travel games, and card games for us to play when we fly. The other kids have never done anything but watch movies! So we are doing a little of both. DD won't know how to act if she has to watch movies the whole time!

To Denver is only about a 4 hour flight from Md. SW changes their snacks so bring food and snacks with you. It is a 2 hour time difference. Cal. is 3.

Last month when I flew SWA, I got the following:

Instead of a small bag of peanuts, they handed out Nabisco "Chips Ahoy ChocoSnacks" -- They're the little twix like chocolate bar snacks.

They also handed out the traditional "Snack Pack" which included:
Honeymaid Graham Cracker -- 100 calorie snack pack
Handi-Snacks Cheese & breadsticks

I can't remember what the third item was... I think they were Oreo Cookies. But I might be confusing with another flight. They're always changing up the Snack Pack.
