Another Sun-Thurs or Mon-Fri ?

Will be at DL from Oct 4 -9. Original plan was to go to the parks from the 5th - 9th with our 1st day being spent at the waterpark in the new Marriott Courtyard where we are staying. This was done largely to avoid the weekend crowds of the 4th which is also the last day of Gay Days.
Now with a MHP on Friday the 9th, we are wondering if it might be better to the 4th - 8th instead. We realize that the Sunday will now probably be the only day we could see Fantasmic, but we probably aren't going to see it anyways so that is not really that important. The biggest factor for us is to try to avoid crowds as much as possible, and the 9th is also the start of a 3 day weekend.
We are also planning to go to the MHP on the Wed, so we could always go Sun and Fri and just not go to DL until the MHP on the Wed, but that would mean missing out on Wed AM which will probably have some of the best crowds of the week, so we are hesitant to do that.
What do you guys think?

We've been numerous times during the week you are planning and into the 3 day weekend. Last year our first day in the park was Wed and it was amazing, very low crowds. For that reason I would suggest doing a regular park day and go to MHP on Friday night instead. Thurs there was a noticeable increase in crowds, F! was also presented that night so if they keep the schedule the same you could see it then. On Fri we just did MHP and had a great time, the crowds were much more manageable once the party officially started vs Thursday. Then the weekend hit and it was complete madness!

The end of Gay Days or the beginning of a holiday weekend and 3 parties..... I really don't think you'll see much difference for either one you choose.
See which days DL closes early due to the Parties and see if that helps you make up your mind what to do.
