Another stroller question...

We are going to WDW in January. My twins will be almost 5 at that time. I recently got rid of all of our strollers as they are big for their age and no longer fit in either double stroller. Actually, to be specific, DD is 55 pounds and DS is 42 pounds. I have been unable to find an affordable double (or two singles) that can accomodate their weight. We don't use a stroller when we go out at home. In your opinion, is renting a stroller the best way to go? Does anybody know of a stroller that can accomodate bigger children?

We have the Maclaren Volo and the Maclaren web site says that the Volos can hold up to 55 pounds I believe. It is the best stroller we have owned. Check out some of the recent threads on stroller questions and I believe many people have children as old and as heavy as yours and they have had great luck with the Volo for their children. I have a friend who has a child that is 5 and about 50 pounds and he did great in the Volo at Disney, and she said it pushed like a dream!!!

I got mine in red at strollers4less.com for under $80.00 with free shipping. I think Babies R Us is having a sale on their Volos at a really great price, under $60.00 I believe!!!

As my older DS got too big for the strollers you can purchase, we started renting one at the parks. They were big enough to accommodate him when he was 5.

I think in this case I would weigh the cost of the strollers with the higher weight limit vs renting. Also take into consideration any resale value you might get if you buy one, or any other use you might get out of it.

You may want to look into renting a double stroller. At 5 yrs of age they will be able to get in & out of the stroller when they want, be able to get on a bus/monorail and be able to walk shorter distances(like around resort) so having a stroller with you the whole time is not as neccessary as when having a toddler.

The double strollers at the parks are nice and have baskets to hold extras.

Thanks all! I think we're leaning toward renting in the park (DH does NOT want to buy another stroller). However, if it doesn't work out (DH will probably change his mind the first time he has to carry DD to the bus when she falls asleep in the rented stroller), we'll have a rental car and I'll go pick up two strollers somewhere in Orlando.
