I read on another thread that you can get a tag for the stroller at the ticket/bag check counter so that you can roll right up to the plane and then they store the stroller for you....what I was wondering is does this count as a carry-on?

It's called "gate checking" the stroller. You usually ask for it when you get to the gate, then they give you a receipt. Roll it down the walkway and leave it before you get on the plane. They'll want you to fold up the stroller for them. When you exit at your desitination don't forget to get your stroller in the same place...sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for it. HTH!!!
