Our DD will be 14 months old for our trip to Disney and we are looking into getting a lightweight stroller for our upcoming yearly trips. I like the Maclarens, but there aren't any drink/snack trays for baby.

IS it important to be sure that the stroller we choose have one? Is it a MUST for a one year old? Any advice from parents who have traveled with this age would be appreciated!! :)

Thanks!

I'm also very curious about this. Especially from parents who have been there/done that. All the umbrella strollers I am looking at do not have child cup holders/snack tray. How do you handle this. I'm taking my 2 year old in october.

I've never had a stroller with a snack tray. I had a Combi first that had just a bar around the front, the the Kolcraft umbrella stroller and now the Maclaren Triumph. I don't think my son has ever noticed or cared. He's always just held cups or snack baggies or containers.

I purchased a separate double cup holder and snack holder that clamps onto each side of the handles on the stroller. I bought it in the automotive section of a department store. It was great. It fit between the handles of the stroller, just like the ones that come attached, and also had a large area for snacks, camera, whatever. I also noticed single cup holders that fit onto the stroller handle.

This is what I'd suggest if you need/want one. Now, as far as needing one... It's a personal decision. The snack tray isn't that big of a deal to me. With the littler ones, it can be exteremly helpful. They can eat on the go, use it when no highchairs are available, that type of thing. But it's not do or die. I can't live without cup holders though. I've used quite a few types of attachable stroller holders. The ones I like are the stroller holder II, insulated. Easy to attach, easy to remove and holds 99% of all drinks. I've had a few problems with the prince lionhearts. You can get them at BAbies R us, Toys R Us, I've seen them occasionally at Walmart & Target, and One Step Ahead catalog has them too.

My youngest HATED sitting in an umbrella stroller, she prefered to sit straight up, so I purchased a Peg Perego Pliko P3. I have 2 older children and really like the running board on the back for them. The great thing that the Pliko's snack tray folds with the stroller so the stroller does fold umbrella style. It is a bit heavier and bulkier than my MacLaren but I also love that the Pliko stands when folded. I really like the MacLaren for my 3+ year old kids but the Pliko was perfect for my 1 to 2 year old.

I've never thought it was important for my children. I actually remove the snack trays on our strollers to make getting into/out of them more convenient. My children (2 and 4) really aren't "snackers". They will eat/snack when the rest of the family sits down to do so but I've never really brought more than a pack of fruit snacks or a juice box along with us anywhere. It's really more of a preference than a necessity.

I don't think a cup holder for the little one is a must - but one for those pushing the stroller certainly is! It seems mom always gets stuck holding everyone's left over drinks, snacks, and anything else!!! A built in is really nice, but I've also used the stoller holder II...it works well with regular sized drinks, but don't go with the big ones because they get top-heavy and tip the holder over!!! Good luck!!

Thanks for the opinions! Yes, a parent one is a must, I agree!! I'm always the one stuck holding drinks, etc.

Now, if anyone is still reading, do you feel the type of fabric the seat of the stroller is made out of made a difference in the comfort of your child regarding the Florida heat? Our annual trips will be in July, so I'm worried about getting anything to bulky, seat wise. Should I be looking for something that might let the breeze (HA! is there such a thing in FL?! :rotfl2: ) pass through the material?

Any advice on that?

If you're looking for an umbrella that doesn't recline, the Maclaren Volo has mesh seats...perfect for what you're looking for! I don't have one, I would rather have the recline feature. I have the Quest Mod. I just got it 2 weeks ago and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! And everyone who has the Volo loves theirs, too! Babystyle.com is having a sale...$69.99 for a brand new Volo! Great deal...

Have you thought of renting a stroller? We used www.abbf.com in December for our 2.5 year old after reading about it on the DIS and were really happy! :thumbsup2

You can buy a drink/snack holder for the Maclarens for about $20 online. We love our Mac, we don't even use our Graco anymore!
