Another Strange Delta Question

First off please know that I am as close to OCD as I can get when I am planning:surfweb: . We booked our trip and tickets at the first of December. I bought our plane tickets online (first time ever) and printed out the copies etc. Well since then I check every couple of days on the Delta site to see if prices have gone up, how many seats are sold, any changes etc.

Yesterday I went in and while it still shows us as purchased and the itinerary is there etc, the seats we chose are not shown as sold for one leg of the flight home. Is this weird? Should I panic?:scared1: My eticket still shows the seats and stuff. Advice please.

It means that your flight had either a time change and/or an equipment change. You can call as suggested above or you can email them at customer-care@delta.com and ask to have the tickets reissued to reflect the changes. They will email you back a copy of the updated tickets in a separate email. Be sure that you include your record locator (i.e. reservation) number that looks something like this: CD4LTR. Once the tickets get reissued, your seat assignments will show online again.

Welcome to the new Delta. In the month before our May 2006 trip, our flight times changed 13 times. Each time was either 1 minute foward or 1 minute backward.

We too are major planners and had our flights booked 6 months prior to our Xmas trip. Our return portion of the trip was with Delta and we will Never fly with them again. Our party of 9 had our seats selected months prior however Delta kindly changed planes (putting us on a very old one) and had four of us seated over the engines in the second last seats. My husband was so angry. Even the flight attendant sitting behind us had ear protection on due to the unbelievable 3 hours of noise we had to put up with. Just a warning to pay close attention when you get your boarding passes that they haven't moved you. We didn't catch it until we were boarding and it was too late. We had decided to give them another chance this year but that was there last for us. GOOD LUCK!!

We have flown Delta a lot in the past, and this sort of this is pretty ordinary. The seats clear iof they change the flight in some way, whether schedule, or more likely, equipment (hard to keep you in the same seats if the plane they are using is different). At first glance, it is disconcerting, and causes panic and sometimes inconvenience among the uninitiated. Fortunately for you, you have our experiences to guide you.

Every few weeks or so, we check on our Delta itineraries on-line to see if we need to get our seats back for any reason (our next Delta itinerary is for August). If there has been any change, we simply re-select seats, or if the computer won;t allow you to do this, call their toll-free number and some nice customer service person will do it for you.

But don't worry, don't panic, this is standard procedure with many airlines. Develop a coping mechanism like mine or others mentioned.

Good luck! Have a great trip!

Are you flying out of Fredricton, St John or driving down to Bangor?

When you book really far in advance, especially with Delta, you stand the chance, no the certaintity, of changes. Whenever there is a slight change, either due to times or equipment changes, Delta will show previously assigned seats as 'unassigned'. You, then, have to call them and get them reassigned. Yes, in the majority of cases, the exact same seat is yours...even when you have to call 5 times over a period of 6 months. I have been down this road with Delta many times....I book at the 331 day window, check my flights every week, up until about 3 months out. If I see any changes, and more often than not I do, I have to call their CS line. But, I have never ended up with seats that were different than those I chose in the beginning. The one time I 'lost' my assigned seats was the one time they canceled a flight I was on and combined it with an existing flight....and that flight was 2/3 full already. Not sure how they thought they were going to seat a flight that was booked almost completely on a flight that was 2/3 full. But, I changed to a better flight, so didn't have to deal with the issue.
So....what you are experiencing isn't that unusual. Just keep checking, and calling to get seats reassigned and you'll be okay.

We didn't book as early as usual, and could not get seats together. I watched every day for over 2 months and hoped for some type of change so I could try to get new seats, but no luck!

This is exactly what we did. DH was furious when he saw the new seats we'd been assigned (back of the plane) so we reselected our seats closer to the front. Our online itinerary shows the change. I think it was a plane change that took place so we will keep our eyes on this.

To answer your question we are driving to Bangor. AC wanted 2300 CND to fly from Fredericton (our hometown) what a ripoff!!!!
