Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but, is anyone else having trouble with SoG's new website? Every time I try and open it, it freezes my computer and I have to ctrl, alt, delete. It actually opens fine as far as the inftroduction, but as soon as I try to click on anything (slideshow, Help, reservations, etc) it makes a noise like someone sliding the needle across a record (showing my age, hehe) and then freezes. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?? TIA for any help! :wave2:

I agree - it's ridiculously flash intensive IMO (but who asked me? ;)).

I'm thinking though, that it could be your popup blocker, as the pictures, FAQs, etc., come up in new windows. Try temporarily disabling your popup blocker & see if that helps!

The only thing that makes me think it's a Flash thing vs. a pop-up blocker thing is that she is getting some noise when she tries to click on something.

I agree...it's way too Flashy! :D

:earboy2: LOL - the reason I said a popup thing is because some popup blockers make a "squishing the popup" noise when they squish them!

As happy as I am about the new site, there are a few things that really bug me - namely, that the pictures and FAQs each pop up a NEW window rather than reusing the already open window. Irritating! :earseek:

Generally, though, a pop-up blocker won't cause your computer to freeze like Flash will.

I didn't investigate the whole site fully, but on some sites I appreciate a separate window because the new window does not include the full navigation that the original page had. Sometimes you don't realize this until you get through all the pictures and then you either have to enter the original URL to get back to it, or you have to hit your back button a million times.

Flash and opening new windows are a wonderful thing when used correctly! :)

I dont' know what ISP you use, but we have Earthlink with pop up blocker and I have no trouble at all. It probably is just a software update issue with Flash. I do have problems on the disney cruise site, among others with pop up blocker, but not on SOG so I'm pretty sure SOG's site isn't using pop ups.

I use Avant Browser. What I'm referring to as popups are the individual smaller windows that appear when you click on a thumbnail of a picture, or a FAQ.

Uh, okay. I know what pop ups are.
Sheesh! You said - "...I'm pretty sure SOG's site isn't using pop ups" so I described what I was referring to as popups ;-). I certainly wasn't insinuating that you didn't know what popups are, I was explaining what *I* was referring to as popups.
