Ok I asked you guys about discounts in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge areas of Tennessee last week.. and well you did so good... now I need to know, where are the best places to eat????

thanks

Laura

You should try The Apple Barn in Sevierville. It's on the main drag leading into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. They have awesome food and a ton of it!! Stay clear of the Great American Steak Buffet in Pigeon Forge....Blech!! There are O'Charley's in Pigeon Forge as well as Gatlinburg, In my opinion you can never go wrong with O'Chucks! There are Golden Corral's as well as Ryan's Buffets along the strip. But Beware of the Timeshare People, they are stationed right in the lobby of some of these places! It's pretty frustrating when you are just trying to get out the door. There is a Cracker Barrel in Pigeon Forge too. Have fun and don't miss Five Oaks Outlet Stores in Sevierville.

I agree about Apple Barn - they have the Best Breakfasts Ever, and the fried chicken is great, too. We drive 3.5 hours just to eat there and then shop for the day.

We also usually hit Mr. Gatti's Pizza, which is right by some of the outlets in Sevierville. Kids love it because of the gameroom, and we love the pizza. There used to be lots of them everywhere, but most have closed now - and this one is bigger and better than the others were!

In Gatlinburg, Aunt Mahalia's Candy has the best caramel apples, and the other candy is great, too.

I agree with the other posters.....Apple Barn is Pidgeon Forge is great. We had lunch there several times and it was wonderful. There is also a gift shop, ice cream shop and candy store on the premises. Wonderfully decorated for fall as well. We like the Pancake House in Gatlinburg....all kinds of different pancakes and they serve box lunches to go if you want to take a picnic up in the mountains.

For dinner eat at the OLD MILL, in Pigeon Forge, if you are there before I think 4pm they have the lunch menu, with the same size portions as the dinner size. Dinner comes with desert. Also don't miss the pancake pantry in Gatlinburg. They have the best french toast. They usually always have a big line, but goes pretty fast. Have fun. Larissa

I agree with the others, you HAVE to go to The Apple Barn and also the Old Mill. But go hungry, you get soooo much food at both, but it can't be beat.

DONT ever go to the Krystal Burger in Pigeon Forge. Ugh, we waited like 30 minutes for our food, and it was gross. I was so frustrated. I havent' been able to eat at Krystal ever since (and that was 2 1/2 years ago).

Definitely the Apple place. Check the hours though. We went once and they were closed...seems like it was Sunday. But we were there for New Years, so it might have been because of the holiday. We were so disappointed.

There's a good BBQ place in Pigeon Forge. I can't think of the name of it, but it's on the right if you're heading toward Gatlinburg. There's always a coupon for it in the little coupon booklets you get at the hotel.

Black Bear Jamboree has decent food and is a dinner show. Kids eat free.

There's a Krispie Kreme. We love to get the donuts when the "hot now" sign is on. Yummy!

I always insist on eating at Long John Silvers because we don't have one here.

In Gatlinburg try:

The Brass Lantern
Legends by Max
The Peddler

Pigeon Forge:

Apple House
Alamo Steakhouse
Old Mill
Don't forget a Dozen Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme

We always eat breakfast at the Apple Barn, at least once per trip. They have awesome fritters and apple butter. There is a very nice gift shop(barn) in the same plaza. We were supposed to be there Friday, but had to cancel our vacation. :sad1: Feed some ducks for me!! :wave2:

The Pancake Pantry!!
It's on the strip in Gatlinburg, and not only does it have great food, it's where DH and I fell in love  (A long story for another time)

More votes for the Apple Barn, Old Mill, and Aunt Mahalia's! I can almost smell the caramel apples now....

(and if you like sweet stuff try the Applewood White wine)

And we always do the Dixie Stampede (yummy soup) and the sit-down, whatever it is, up at Ober Gatlinburg.

If you've got the time a great day trip is Biltmore. They have a fantastic restaurant out by the stables. We had a magical Christmas there this past year.

Apple Barn is a must, be sure to have some extra time to stroll through the shops and grounds.

I saw someone mention the Bear Jamboree show. Sorry but IMHO we couldn't stand the show. I was constantly looking at my watch. DS4 at the time thought it was OK but he wasn't thrilled with it either. If you go to a show I wouldn't recommend this one. Oh, and if you'd like to go to Dixie Stampede be sure to get advanced tickets (that's why we ended up at Bear Jamboree!)

We live an hour away, and we visit that area about twice a month, most of the time just as day trips. We LOVE Corky's!! It is the best BBQ in the world!! You can even get a carry-out family meal for picnics!!! You have to eat there!!

Regarding Black Bear Jamboree. I should've asked if you have kids and when you are going to be there. Mine love the show. It reminds us of the Country Bears at WDW. During the regular season the meal is soup, biscuits, chicken, corn, etc. The Christmas show is different, but the food is yucky (turkey, dressing, etc., all TV dinner quality) and kids don't get in free. Dixie Stampede is more exciting, but lots more expensive, too. I thought the food was comparable at both. Nothing fancy.

We were there in August, we liked: The Apple Barn, The Old Mill, Bennetts BBQ, Dixie Stampede & Calhouns.

The Comedy Barn show is a MUST do!!! I laughed so hard my ribs hurt! They tape the show live & you can purchase either a VHS or DVD of the show that night. Get tickets early if you want a seat up close, we purchased ours 2 hours before the show & we had to sit in the balcony, they were good seats but if you want to see yourself on the DVD lots you need to be close to the stage.
