another small add on question

Hi

We own 150 points at SSR with a Feb use year.

We are thinking of adding on 25-50 points with an AKV contract.

I had re-read through the posts and I know what the advantages are.

I beleive they are still offering the $8.00 off per point, but does anyone know when my points would take effect, it would be for 2008 use year right?? Or could I get them for 2007 use year?

I'm sure the only way to get an accurate answer to your question is to ask your guide, because the answer may depend on what they have in inventory. The incentive could change if you get current year points.

If you decide to do that, keep in mind that you only have home resort advantage with the points at that resort. You will not be able to use your AKV points at >7 months at SSR, or your SSR points at >7 months at AKV.

Thanks I am going to call my guide in the morning. Maybe I should just add on SSR instead. After reading all the posts on it, I have to say I am more confused.

I thought the $8.00 off a point is only if you purchase 100 or more points?

We have added on a couple of times, each small contracts. The last time was when AKV came out. I was initially thinking of adding on there, but then realized it would be best for us to add on at our home resort of BWV. I understand there's a fifteen year difference in the end date, but that's irrelevant to us anyway, we'll be in our 80's, hopefully

Both add ons I found it best to just add at my home resort, there isn't much I could do with 25 points in AKV or SSR, and ALOT I could do with all my points at BWV! Personal preference I guess, and we had no problem getting AKV for part of our upcoming stay at the 7 month window.

That is what I was thinking also, if I just added on at SSR, it would work better for me. We travel at off peak times anyway.

I will check the price with my guide in the morning about the price.

I added on at AKV in Nov. We were given 2007 points and 2008 points (I have a Feb use year, as well). I had to pay prorated 2007 dues, which amounted to 32.87. Also, even though we are past our banking window, I was able to bank all the 2007 points.

I also was given the incentive and the developer points, but I had to buy 110 points to get those. I think the current $8/$10 incentive is only for contracts of 100 points or more.

That's right, but also remember that you can add on any number of points above 25. Unless, of course, you want to finance, and then it is any number above 50.

Thanks, I am going to call my guide this morning. I would consider buying 110 points to get the developers points, but it is a lot of money. I need to do the calculations to see, but it is worth a shot.

Yep, that was quick. I was going to buy directly through Disney, but looked at the GMAC site and saw a contract for 50 points with 44 banked from last year. I put in an offer, they accepted. The best part is it was for SSR and a Feb use year which I have. So...if I pass ROFR, we should be all set.

Thanks!!! Since I have been through ROFR before, and I actually had a contract bought back when I tried to by a Marriot property before, I have a calm feeling about it. If it doesn't get through, I will just by directly through Disney!
